History

All 18 holes of the course were opened on July 1, 2010. [1] The course held its Grand Opening on July 10, 2010, with Johnny Miller, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, and its designer, Jack Nicklaus, in attendance. [2]

Controversy

Local residents have taken exception to the golf course using a portion of the public Jean Klock Park for three of its holes. The Michigan Supreme Court ruled in favor of Harbor Shores to keep the three holes at Jean Klock Park. [3] [4]

Harbor Shores hosted the Senior PGA Championship in 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018 and is scheduled to host the tournament in 2022, and 2024. [5] Harbor Shores also will also welcome back the Brenda Faxon Invitational in 2022.

Scorecard

The golf course has four distinct sections, as noted on the scorecard. [6] The first six holes are inland holes; holes 7, 8, and 9 play through dunes, as they are the closest holes to Lake Michigan. The first four holes on the back nine are woodlands holes; and holes 14-18 are river holes, playing on or near the Paw Paw River.

Whistling Straits Golf course in Kohler, Wisconsin

Whistling Straits is one of two 36-hole links-style golf courses associated with Destination Kohler, a luxury golf resort owned and operated by the Kohler Company in Kohler, Wisconsin. The other course is Blackwolf Run, located in the Village of Kohler. The Whistling Straits complex is located north of Sheboygan, in the unincorporated community of Haven in the Town of Mosel in Sheboygan County. Whistling Straits is separated into two courses, the Straits Course and the Irish Course.

Senior Open Championship

The Senior Open Championship, or simply The Senior Open is a professional golf tournament for players aged 50 and over. It is run by The R&A, the same body that organises The Open Championship. Prize money won in the event is official money on both PGA Tour Champions and the European Senior Tour. The purse, which is fixed in United States dollars, was $2.5 million in 2021, with a winner's share of $392,800. For sponsorship reasons, it is currently known as The Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex.

The Senior PGA Championship is the oldest of the five major championships in men's senior golf. It is administered by the Professional Golfers' Association of America and is recognized as a major championship by both PGA Tour Champions and the European Senior Tour. It was formerly an unofficial money event on the European Senior Tour, but since 2007 has been an official money event. Winners gain entry into the next PGA Championship. AT&T Byron Nelson

The AT&T Byron Nelson is a golf tournament in Texas on the PGA Tour, currently hosted by TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, northeast of Dallas. Held in May, it is one of two PGA Tour stops in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex – the only metropolitan area to host two events. The tournament is the leading fundraiser for charity on the PGA Tour and has raised more than $143 million. For much of its history, it was the only PGA Tour stop named after a professional golfer, and remains one of only two such events, along with the Arnold Palmer Invitational. As host, Byron Nelson (1912–2006) commonly made appearances during the tournament. It is hosted by the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, a 600-member civic organization, and has benefited the club's nonprofit Momentous Institute since its inception.

Congressional Country Club Golf course and country club

Congressional Country Club is a country club and golf course in Bethesda, Maryland, United States. Congressional opened in 1924 and its Blue Course has hosted five major championships, including three U.S. Opens and a PGA Championship. Founding life members include William H. Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover. It is a biennial stop on the PGA Tour, with the Quicken Loans National hosted by Tiger Woods until 2020. Jean Klock Park is a historic city park along Lake Michigan in Benton Harbor, Michigan, United States. In 1917, John Nellis Klock and his wife, Carrie, bought a significant stretch of lakeshore including tall dunes and 2,950 feet (900 m) of shoreline from E. K. Warren, donor of Warren Dunes, and deeded the land to the city of Benton Harbor. They gave the land in memory of their daughter, Jean, who died in early childhood. The Klock deed stipulates that the property be used for bathing beach, park purposes, or other public purposes. At the park dedication, Klock stated,

The 2004 PGA Championship was the 86th PGA Championship, played August 12–15 at the Straits Course of the Whistling Straits complex in Haven, Wisconsin. The purse was $6.25 million and the winner's share was $1.125 million.

Lake Michigan Admirals

The Lake Michigan Admirals were a team of the Premier Basketball League that began play in the 2009-10 season as a member of the American Basketball Association. The Admirals are the second ABA team based in Berrien County, Michigan, after the Benton Harbor-based Twin City Ballers folded after their only season of 2006-07. The Admirals played 15 home games, 10 in Lake Michigan Catholic High School in Saint Joseph, Michigan and 5 at Benton Harbor High School in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

The Point O' Woods Golf & Country Club is a private golf club located in Benton Township, Berrien County, Michigan, United States, near Benton Harbor.

The Detroit Golf Club is a private golf club located in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan in the middle of a neighborhood area on north side of the city near the University of Detroit Mercy and Palmer Woods Historic District. Bert Way designed the original 6-hole course. It was expanded to 9 holes, and finally Donald Ross built the current 36-hole course. The club grounds crew maintains two courses, the North and the South Course. The head pro is Josh Upson. Starting in 2019, Detroit Golf Club began hosting the Rocket Mortgage Classic, a new annual PGA Tour event.

KemperSports is a privately held golf course and hospitality management company founded in 1978 by Steven H. Lesnik and James S. Kemper, Jr., president and chairman of the board of Kemper Insurance. The company began with the management of Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer, Illinois, an upscale public golf course in the Chicago area.
