Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park is in the central-west of the South Island of New Zealand. Aoraki / Mount Cook, New Zealand's highest mountain, and Mount Cook Village lie within the park. The area was gazetted as a national park in October 1953 and covers 707 km2 (273 sq mi). The national park consists of reserves that were established as early as 1885 to protect the area's significant landscape and vegetation. Glaciers cover 40% of the park area, most notably the Haupapa / Tasman Glacier, the largest glacier in New Zealand lies within the national park. The park borders Westland Tai Poutini National Park along the Main Divide of the Southern Alps. Following the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998, the name of the of the national park and mountain were officially changed from Mount Cook to Aoraki / Mount Cook in October 1998 to recognise the mountain's original name. Many of the geographical features in the park were named by or for early European surveyors and explorers.
The Falls Creek Alpine Resort is an alpine ski resort in the Hume region in northeastern Victoria, Australia. It is located in the Alpine National Park in the Victorian Alps, approximately 350 kilometres by road from Melbourne, with the nearest town being Mount Beauty, which is approximately 30 km (20 mi) away. The resort lies between an elevation of 1,500 and 1,830 m above sea level, with the highest lifted point at 1,780 m (5,840 ft). Skiing is possible on the nearby peak of Mount McKay at 1,842 m (6,043 ft), accessed by snowcat from the resort.

The joint Claw-Eagle and Claw-Tiger operations was a Turkish Armed Forces external operation in northern Iraq. The operation took place in the Qandil Mountains, the Sinjar District, and Makhmur, against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) targets, as part of the ongoing Kurdish–Turkish and Kurdish–Iranian conflicts. Claw-Eagle, the air campaign, began on 15 June 2020. Claw-Tiger, the ground campaign, was launched on 17 June.
