The Life I Lead is a one-man comedy play by James Kettle about the life of English actor David Tomlinson. [1]
Tomlinson was best known for his role as Mr. Banks in the 1964 Disney film Mary Poppins (in which Tomlinson famously sings the Sherman Brothers song, "The Life I Lead" and to which the title of this show refers). Tomlinson was also known for playing Professor Emelius Browne in Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) and Peter Thorndyke in The Love Bug (1968).
The play premiered at the Northcott Theatre in Exeter on 6 February 2019, prior to touring the UK until April 2019, which included a run at the Park Theatre, London. Comedian and actor Miles Jupp starred as Tomlinson and was directed by Selina Cadell and Didi Hopkins with set and costume design by Lee Newby. The play transferred into London's West End for 8 performances only starring Jupp from 16 to 21 September 2019 at Wyndham's Theatre. [2]
The play opened to critical acclaim, particularly praising Jupp on his performance. [3] [4]

The Noël Coward Theatre, formerly known as the Albery Theatre, is a West End theatre in St. Martin's Lane in the City of Westminster, London. It opened on 12 March 1903 as the New Theatre and was built by Sir Charles Wyndham behind Wyndham's Theatre which was completed in 1899. The building was designed by the architect W. G. R. Sprague with an exterior in the classical style and an interior in the Rococo style.

The Northcott Theatre is a theatre situated on the Streatham Campus of the University of Exeter, Exeter, Devon, England. It opened in 1967 and was run until 2010 by the Northcott Theatre Foundation, when the company ceased operating after a period in administration. The theatre is now known as Exeter Northcott Theatre and became a registered charity in June 2013.

Wyndham's Theatre is a West End theatre, one of two opened by actor/manager Charles Wyndham. Located on Charing Cross Road in the City of Westminster, it was designed c.1898 by W. G. R. Sprague, the architect of six other London theatres between then and 1916. It was designed to seat 759 patrons on three levels; later refurbishment increased this to four seating levels. The theatre was Grade II* listed by English Heritage in September 1960.

The Lehman Trilogy is a three-act play by Italian novelist and playwright Stefano Massini. It follows the lives of three immigrant brothers from when they arrive in America and found an investment firm through to the collapse of the company in 2008. It has been translated into 24 languages, staged by such directors as Luca Ronconi and Sam Mendes, and was later published as a novel. The play was produced in the West End in 2018 by the National Theatre, was directed by Sam Mendes and included the cast of Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley and Ben Miles. The production earned five Laurence Olivier Award nominations.
