They have been an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1996. Nepal were awarded Twenty20 International (T20I) status by the ICC in June 2014 until the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier. On 15 March 2018, Nepal gained One Day International (ODI) status for the first time, after winning the first playoff match in the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

The 2005 ICC Trophy was a cricket tournament held in Ireland between 1 July and 13 July 2005. It was an international one-day tournament played over 50 overs per side between 12 Associate Members of the International Cricket Council. It served as the final part of the Cricket World Cup qualification process, coming with the prize of a place in the 2007 Cricket World Cup for the five top-ranked teams, and with the prize of official One-Day International status from 1 January 2006 for the five top-ranked teams along with Kenya.
The Papua New Guinea national cricket team, nicknamed the Barramundis, is the team that represents the country of Papua New Guinea in international cricket. The team is organised by Cricket PNG, which has been an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1973. Papua New Guinea previously had One-Day International (ODI) status, which it gained by finishing fourth in 2014 World Cup Qualifier. Papua New Guinea lost both their ODI and T20I status in March 2018 after losing a playoff match against Nepal during the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier, a result that earned ODI and T20I status for their opponents. On 26 April 2019, at the final World Cricket League 2 fixture; PNG defeated Oman to finish at the fourth position and reclaim their ODI status.
The Samoan national cricket team is the men's team that represents the Independent State of Samoa in international cricket. They became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2000. They competed in the Pacifica Championship in 2001 and 2002, hosting the tournament on the second occasion. They came 6th in 2001, and 5th in 2002. In 2005, they competed in the East Asia/Pacific Cup, finishing in last place, thus missing out on qualification for the 2011 World Cup. Since 2017, they became an associate member.
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier is a Twenty20 International tournament run under the auspices of the International Cricket Council. The tournament serves as the final qualifying event for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup for Associate Members and lower ranked Full Members. So far, Ireland are the only full member who have ever had to take part in the tournament in 2019. The first edition was held in 2008, with only six teams. This was increased to eight teams for the 2010 tournament and to 16 teams for the 2012 and 2013 editions, but reduced to 14 for the 2015 edition. Currently, the top six finishers in the qualifier move on to the ICC World Twenty20 tournament.
The 2014 ICC World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed the final part of the Cricket World Cup qualification process for the 2015 World Cup. The top two teams qualified for the World Cup, joining Ireland and for the first time Afghanistan, both of whom already qualified through the 2011–13 ICC World Cricket League Championship and maintained their ODI status. The World Cup Qualifier was the final event of the 2009–14 World Cricket League. It was staged in New Zealand, from 13 January to 1 February 2014 after Scotland relinquished the right to host it. Scotland was originally scheduled to host the tournament in July and August 2013.

Moylena Ground is a cricket ground in Antrim, Northern Ireland and the home of Muckamore Cricket Club. In 2005, the ground hosted two List A matches in the 2005 ICC Trophy. The first of these was between Denmark and Uganda, which resulted in a Danish victory by 28 runs, The second saw Canada play Oman, which resulted in 2 wicket victory for Canada.
Upritchard Park is a cricket ground in Bangor, Northern Ireland and the home of Bangor Cricket Club. In 2005, the ground hosted three List A matches in the 2005 ICC Trophy. The first of these was between Canada and Scotland, which resulted in a Scottish victory by 7 wickets. The second saw Denmark play the UAE, with the match ending in a no result, while the third saw Ireland play Denmark, with Ireland winning by 73 runs.
Drummond Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Limavady, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. In 2005, the ground hosted a List A match in the 2005 ICC Trophy between Oman and Papua New Guinea, which resulted in a Papua New Guinean victory by 93 runs.

In 2005, the ground hosted two List A matches in the 2005 ICC Trophy. The first of these saw Denmark play the Netherlands, which resulted in a victory by six wickets for the Netherlands. The second of these saw Oman play the United States, which resulted three wicket victory for Oman.
Greenisland was a cricket ground in Greenisland, Northern Ireland, used first by Greenisland Cricket Club, and then by Cliftonville Cricket Club from 1990–2007. Since 2008, the owners of the ground, Greenisland War Memorial Sports Club, replaced the cricket pitch with artificial hockey pitch and it has ceased to be a cricket venue.
The 2015–2017 ICC Intercontinental Cup was the seventh edition of the ICC Intercontinental Cup, an international first-class cricket tournament between leading associate members of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The tournament took place during 2015 to 2017. It ran in parallel with the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship, but with slightly different teams. As Ireland and Afghanistan had qualified for the ICC One Day International Championship ranking qualification process, they were replaced by Kenya and Nepal in the limited over event; however they continued to play the four-day event.

The 2021 Summer T20 Bash was a series of Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket matches played in the United Arab Emirates in October 2021 between Ireland, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, Scotland and the United Arab Emirates. The UAE played one match against Namibia and three matches against Ireland, Scotland played one match against Namibia and one against Papua New Guinea, and Papua New Guinea and Namibia played one match against each other. The matches were used as preparation for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
