The Red Button is an American power pop band consisting of Seth Swirsky and Mike Ruekberg. Swirsky is a well-known pop songwriter, [1] while Ruekberg is a songwriter and performer in the Los Angeles area. Their debut album, She's About to Cross My Mind, was released in 2007 by Grimble Records. [2] Their second album, entitled As Far As Yesterday Goes, was released on June 21, 2011. [3]

Biography

Swirsky's music credentials include hit songs for dozens of artists, including Rufus Wainwright (Instant Pleasure), Al Green, Tina Turner and Taylor Dayne ( Tell it to my heart and Prove Your Love) among many others.

In the 1990s, Ruekberg worked as a singer and songwriter for the Minneapolis-based pop-rockers Rex Daisy, who recorded a CD for Geffen Records with producer Paul Fox. Ruekberg also wrote the soundtrack for the indie cult film classic Dummy, starring Adrien Brody.

The band was featured in The Los Angeles Times as a Buzz Band on August 7, 2007. [4]

In a year-end 2007 poll of the top pop records of the year, She's About to Cross My Mind was ranked No. 1 (out of 125) by Absolute Powerpop. [5] Pop Journalist and International Pop Overthrow founder David Bash ranked the album No. 8 (out of 125) in his influential year-end list. [6]

Audities ranked The Red Button album 2nd best pop album of the year in their 2007 year-end poll.

A second album by The Red Button, entitled "As Far As Yesterday Goes," was released on June 21, 2011. [3] It was voted No. 7 (out of 748 entries) in the 2011 year-end poll taken by readers of the online music group Audities. [7]

The first single on "As Far As Yesterday Goes" – Caught in the Middle—was named "The Coolest Song in the World" (for the week of July 11, 2011) on "Little Steven" Van Zandt's syndicated radio show The Underground Garage. [8]

The song Picture from The Red Button's second album was nominated for Best Pop Song at the 2011 Hollywood Music and Media Awards in Los Angeles on November 17, 2011. [9]

The first single from She's About to Cross My Mind, entitled "Cruel Girl", [10] charted at No. 1 on Little Steven's Underground Garage radio show for the week of July 22, 2007 [4] and was named the 2nd Best Song of 2007 by Popbang Radio. [11] The song was also chosen to be on The Coolest Songs in the World, Volume 4 CD (2008) on Wicked Cool Records. [12] Other songs from She's About to Cross My Mind, have been featured on XM The Loft's "In Spite Of All The Danger" program, Sirius Radio's Idiot's Delight with Vin Scelsa as well as radio stations around the world.

They were formed as a trio in late 2003 by pre-teens, Dion Mariani on guitar, bass guitar and vocals, his cousin, John Mariani on guitar, bass guitar and vocals, and Scarlett Stevens on drums and vocals. The Contrast are a guitar power pop band based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, in the United Kingdom. They were formed in 1999 by David Reid and have since released five albums on the New York-based label Rainbow Quartz and two for Wicked Cool Records. Since the release of their second album Wireless Days, their music has been regularly played by Little Steven on his Underground Garage radio show. Little Steven once described them on air as "One of the best bands on the planet – and England too" and consequently invited them to play the Underground Garage Festival on Randall's Island in 2004. In May 2007, they released a new album called Underground Ghosts that has since been regularly featured on Little Steven's Underground Garage show. A compilation of tracks from all of the Rainbow Quartz albums was released in 2007. This contains new and unreleased tracks and is the band's first release on Little Steven's "Wicked Cool" label. The song Instant Pleasure was written by pop songwriter Seth Swirsky and was featured in Adam Sandler's highest-grossing film, Big Daddy (1999). In the movie, it was sung by Rufus Wainwright. The song was recorded by Seth Swirsky on his first solo album, Instant Pleasure, in 2004. The album won Best Pop Album at the 2005 L.A. Music Awards. Rockell also recorded the song for her 2002 album, Instant Pleasure.

The group has released several EPs including The New Trocaderos and Frenzy in the Hips, with John Borack of Goldmine Magazine calling the band "sort of a mini-supergroup" and describing its sound as "a louder version of mid-'70s Dave Edmunds all hopped up on stimulants." Their first full-length album, Thrills & Chills, was released on August 20, 2015, and a vinyl release and sold out tour of Spain took place in October. <i>Soulfire</i> (Little Steven album) 2017 studio album by Little Steven

Soulfire is the sixth solo studio album by Little Steven, released on May 19, 2017. It marks his first studio album since 1999's Born Again Savage. The album consists of Van Zandt's versions of songs that he either wrote or co-wrote for other artists and describes it as "me covering me!" In June 2017, Rolling Stone ranked Soulfire number 28 on their list of the "50 Best Albums of 2017 So Far."

Renegade Nation is a music and entertainment company founded by Steven Van Zandt in 1999. The company focuses on artist management, production, live events, and distribution. It is also the parent company of Van Zandt's independent record label, Wicked Cool Records, and distributes Little Steven's Underground Garage.
