The Rider News [1] is the weekly independent student newspaper of Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. The Rider News routinely wins top awards from the New Jersey Press Association and from the regional division of the Society of Professional Journalists, successfully competing against institutions from Maine to Eastern Pennsylvania. The newspaper is available on campus and online for free. The Rider News publishes once a week on Wednesday from September to May during the academic year. Students are responsible for all aspects of the publication, including writing, editing, photography, design, as well as maintaining its digital and social media platforms.

Founded in 1930, the paper serves the entire Rider community. Each year, the student executive editor of The Rider News is awarded a full-tuition scholarship and the student managing editor is awarded a half-tuition scholarship. In addition, newspaper section editor posts are paid positions and serve as these students’ on-campus jobs. Paid student roles include: executive editor, managing editor, news section editors, features and entertainment editors, opinion editor, sports editors, copy editors, ad manager, photo editor, video editor, design manager and circulation managers.

The Daily Tar Heel (DTH) is the independent student newspaper of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was founded on February 23, 1893, and became a daily newspaper in 1929. The paper places a focus on university news and sports, but it also includes heavy coverage of Orange County and North Carolina. In 2016, the paper moved from five days a week in print to four, cutting the Tuesday edition. In 2017, the paper began to print on only Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. In 2021, the paper began to print only on Wednesdays. All editorial content is overseen by student editors and a volunteer student staff of about 230 people. It's located at 109 E. The Courier is the free student weekly newspaper of Newcastle University's Students' Union. The newspaper is divided into sections, including news, comment, sport, puzzles, lifestyle, music, film, TV, beauty, fashion, travel, arts, gaming and science.

The Chart is the student newspaper of Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri. The paper was founded in 1939 by Kenneth McCaleb, a student at what was then Joplin Junior College. The newspaper is printed weekly during the fall and spring semesters, for a total of 24 issues a year, and is written, edited and graphically designed by Missouri Southern students.

The Bard Free Press is a monthly college newspaper published by students of Bard College, a private liberal arts college in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. The paper has a circulation of about 2,000 and is the only printed student newspaper at Bard. The paper was founded in 2000, by former student editors of The Observer, Bard's newspaper at the time. The Free Press and the Bard Observer merged in 2008.
