The Sarkari Mussalman (2018) [1] is an autobiography of Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah, an Army Officer who belied in community apprehensions retired as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff. During his tenure as Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University was propelled to the top spot, amongst Indian Universities, in International University Rankings. [2] [3]

Aligarh Muslim University is a public central university in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India, which was originally established by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan as the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875. Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College became Aligarh Muslim University in 1921, following the Aligarh Muslim University Act. It has three off-campus centres in AMU Malappuram Campus (Kerala), AMU Murshidabad Centre, and Kishanganj Centre (Bihar).

The Aligarh Movement was the push to establish a modern system of Western-style scientific education for the Muslim population of British India, during the later decades of the 19th century. The movement's name derives from the fact that its core and origins lay in the city of Aligarh in Central India and, in particular, with the foundation of the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875. The founder of the oriental college, and the other educational institutions that developed from it, was Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. He became the leading light of the wider Aligarh Movement.

Brigadier Syed Ahmad Ali is a senior retired officer of the Indian Army. He was the ex-pro-vice chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University from 26 September 2012 to 16 May 2017. He is currently appointed as the director of Jahangirabad Educational Institute of Technology.

Chowdhury is a title of honour, usually hereditary, originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is an adaption from Sanskrit. During the Mughal rule, it was a title awarded to eminent people, while during British rule, the term was associated with zamindars and social leaders. The common female equivalent was Chowdhurani. The Law Society is a body of students from Aligarh Muslim University's faculty of law. The body has produced lawyers, judges and politicians. It is an educational and representative body with an estimated 1000 active members. It is involved in training and preparing students for various competitive activities like Moot Court, Legal debate, Quiz, Judgment writing etc. of the Faculty. It was founded in 1894 as a non-profit student organization. It has long traditional character which always uplifts the students' participation and performance in relation to legal affairs in different arena. The Dean, Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh is the President of the Society.

Tariq Mansoor is an Indian academic and professor, who served as the vice-chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University in India from 17 May 2017 to 2 April 2023. He is presently a nominated member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council by the Bharatiya Janata Party on 3 April 2023. He was also a member of Padma award committee 2023.

Khwaja Mohammed Shahid is an Indian career civil servant, academic and administrator who formerly served as Vice Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University and Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia University. He was also an eminent visitor to the University Grants Commission.
