The Shiny Brights are an indie rock band from Adelaide, Australia. The five members have varied tastes in music that all influence their songs; a mix of post-punk, Brit pop and garage rock, held together by lead singer Wolfgang's distinctive voice and the band's four-part gang vocals. They rehearse in a warehouse full of washing machines which inspired the band name, derived from a laundromat franchise in Adelaide called Shiny Brights. [1]

Wolfgang, James, Chris and Miles all met at high school and formed The Shiny Brights in late 2007, later recruiting Alex to play lead guitar and to take on the duties of driving the tour van. [2]

In September 2008 they digitally released their debut 6-track EP Let's Not And Say We Did and launched it at the renowned Adelaide live music venue The Governor Hindmarsh Hotel. The single "Electric Tigerland" was added to Triple J, Nova and community radio stations around Australia. Let's Not And Say We Did was produced by Chris Doherty at Studios 301 in Sydney and mastered by Oscar Gaona. [3] On the back of this release the band were invited to play at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York, the Parklife Festival, and the Adelaide International Guitar Festival. [4] The band are currently working on their new EP 'Too Many Chiefs' which will be released in early 2010.[ needs update ]

The band were selected to support UK act The Wombats as well as supporting Apollo Heights, John Steel Singers and The Vines. [5] In the month of December 2008 they experienced a landslide of band competition wins that put them in the spotlight; they were 'unearthed' by Australian youth radio network Triple J to play at the Big Day Out headlined by acts like Neil Young, Arctic Monkeys, My Morning Jacket, The Prodigy, [6] then they won a Sonicbids competition to play at Southbound Festival in Western Australia, alongside The Hives, Franz Ferdinand, The Kooks, Gomez amongst others, [7] and they also won a Nova Radio competition to play at the Clipsal 500 After Race Concert with The Living End, Gyroscope and The Butterfly Effect. [8] They were named as one of Rip It Up Magazine's 'Hot Six Local Picks for 2009'. [9]

The group disbanded in December 2013, but they announced their reformation in October 2020.

The Open Season were a four-piece alternative rock band from Adelaide, South Australia.

The Preytells were an Australian indie rock band from Perth, formed in 2004 by Jessicca Bennett on lead guitar and backing vocals, Simon Okely on guitar and lead vocals, Jaclyn Pearson on drums and percussion and Cameron Stewart on bass guitar and backing vocals. Their sole album, Flood Songs/June Songs, was issued in September 2009; before they disbanded later that year. Their single, "Shout!", was nominated for WAM Song of the Year in the Pop category in 2008; while, "Lord Hold My Hand", was nominated for the same category in 2009.

Crawlspace are an Australian rock band from Perth which formed in 1998.

The band shot to fame in 2007 after they were chosen by Grinspoon to open a Melbourne music festival which included acts such as Grinspoon, The Butterfly Effect and Little Birdy. Teeth & Tongue released four albums, Monobasic, Tambourine, Grids and Give Up on Your Health, before disbanding early in 2017. The stage name had also been used for Cornelius' solo performances, but since 2017 she has performed and released material under her own name and relocated to Los Angeles late that year.

The Bennies are an Australian ska punk band originally from Melbourne, Victoria and currently based on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Self-described as "psychedelic reggae ska doom metal punk rock from Hell," the band are known for their high-energy live shows and their mix of genres including dub, punk rock and heavy metal. To date, the band have released four studio albums and two EPs.

I Know Leopard are an Australian pop band from Sydney, New South Wales. The band was formed in 2012, and features Luke O'Loughlin on vocals and keyboards, Rosie Fitzgerald on bass and Jennifer McCullagh on violin and keyboards. They released their debut album, Love is a Landmine, in 2019.
