The Tally Ho is a landmark two-storey public house in north Finchley, north London, under the management of Stonegate Pub Company.
North Finchley is a suburb of London in the London Borough of Barnet, situated 7 miles (11.3 km) north-west of Charing Cross.
Stonegate Pub Company is a British pub company with 660 pubs and bars.
The pub was built in 1927 [1] on a wedge-shaped plot where Ballards Lane in the west meets the High Road (Great North Road) in the east. [2] It replaced the Park Road Hotel on the same site [3] and was originally under the management of Charrington Brewery. The design is gabled all round with Shavian Ipswich windows. [2] It was named after nearby Tally Ho Corner where in the 1820s and 30s the Tally Ho Coach Company kept horses that were used for the first change of horses for the Birmingham mail coach. [4]
The Great North Road was the main highway between London and Scotland. It became a coaching route used by mail coaches travelling between London, York and Edinburgh. The modern A1 mainly parallels the route of the Great North Road. Coaching inns, many of which survive, were staging posts providing accommodation, stabling for horses and replacement mounts. Nowadays virtually no surviving coaching inns can be seen while driving on the A1, because the modern route bypasses the towns in which the inns are found.
Charrington Brewery was a brewery company founded in Bethnal Green, London in the early 18th century by Robert Westfield. In 1766, John Charrington joined the company, which then traded as Westfield, Moss & Charrington from the Anchor Brewery in Stepney. It merged with United Breweries of London in 1964 to become Charrington United Breweries, then, after acquiring a number of other breweries, it merged with Bass Brewery in 1967 to become the largest UK brewing company, Bass Charrington, later simply Bass plc. The brewing operations of the company were bought by Interbrew in 2000, while the retail side were renamed Six Continents. In 2003 Six Continents split into a pubs business, now known as Mitchells & Butlers, and a hotels and soft drinks business, now known as InterContinental Hotels Group.

The Dollis Valley Greenwalk is a footpath route in the London Borough of Barnet in London, England, between Moat Mount Nature Reserve in Mill Hill and Hampstead Heath. The route is designed to act as a link between the Capital Ring and the London Loop, and between the many green spaces and wildlife corridors along the way. It is approximately 10 miles (16 km) long. It mainly follows the Dollis Brook, and is one of the many parks and open spaces in Barnet.
