The Teller and the Truth is an American docudrama. [1] [2] about the disappearance of bank teller Francis Wetherbee. [3] [4] [5] The Teller and the Truth is directed, co-written, and co-edited by Andrew Shapter, [6] [7] and was shot over a period of five years, [8] [9] in part, while Shapter underwent radiation and chemotherapy. [10]

The Teller and the Truth held its world premiere at the Austin Film Festival on November 1, 2015, [11] [12] and was distributed by Filmbuff. [13] The Teller and the Truth premiered on iTunes and Amazon on March 1, 2016. [14] [15]

Plot

The film explores the story of bank teller Francis Wetherbee, who disappeared in 1974 during a bank robbery in Smithville, Texas. A few days after her disappearance Smithville Police recovered her car from the bottom of a river but found no other clues as to her whereabouts. Some 40 years after Francis Wetherbee vanished, her disappearance is reexamined as major individuals from her life come forward with new theories and evidence.

Chronicle of a Disappearance is a 1996 drama film by Palestinian director and actor Elia Suleiman. Suleiman stars in the film along with his family members, his relatives, and other non-actors. Dhat Productions produced the film. The film features no real storyline or character arc. Suleiman plays himself returning to Israel and the West Bank after a long absence which is followed by a series of barely connected vignettes and sketches, which are intended to convey the feelings of restlessness and uncertainty from Palestinian statelessness. The film's tone varies through these scenes such as "Nazareth Personal Diary", which has a light and domestic tone, and "Jerusalem Political Diary", which has a more ideological tone.

Before the Music Dies (B4MD) is a 2006 U.S. documentary film that criticizes the American music industry and the increasing commercialization of the art of music over the past thirty years. The film features interviews and performances from such musicians and groups as Doyle Bramhall II, Erykah Badu, Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, Branford Marsalis, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt and My Morning Jacket. Andrew Shapter

Andrew Shapter was an American film director, producer, writer and photographer. Shapter is known for his documentaries, Before the Music Dies (2006) and Happiness Is (2009), his feature film The Teller and the Truth (2015), his music videos with Willie Nelson and The Roots, and his U.N. Summit video on refugees, Refugees Are... Shapter completed cancer treatment in October 2014. Shapter was a partner at the creative production company Roadwings Entertainment, which has offices in Austin, Las Vegas, and San Francisco.
