Project Coast was a 1980s top-secret chemical and biological weapons (CBW) program instituted by the apartheid-era government of South Africa. Project Coast was the successor to a limited postwar CBW program, which mainly produced the lethal agents CX powder and mustard gas, as well as non-lethal tear gas for riot control purposes. The program was headed by the cardiologist Wouter Basson, who was also the personal physician of South African Prime Minister P. W. Botha.

I, the Supreme is a historical novel written by exiled Paraguayan author Augusto Roa Bastos. It is a fictionalized account of the nineteenth-century Paraguayan dictator José Gaspar Rodríguez de Francia, who was also known as "Dr. Francia." The book's title derives from the fact that Francia referred to himself as "El Supremo" or "the Supreme." The first in a long line of dictators, the Supreme was a severe, calculating despot. The central themes of the novel are power and language and the relation between the two. The Supreme believes himself to be above all power and history: "I don't write history. I make it. I can remake it as I please, adjusting, stressing, enriching its meaning and truth." Yet this assertion is constantly challenged by the very fact that while he achieves power by means of writing and dictating, these very same methods can be used by others to dispute his authority. Not even his own identity, represented by the personal pronoun I, is safe and can easily be usurped as is demonstrated by the incident of the pasquinade. Language, as powerful as it is, can never be controlled and can just as easily be used as an instrument of coercion as an instrument of resistance.
Deadline is a 2001 Swedish thriller. It was released in the US as The Bomber which is a direct translation of its original Swedish title Sprängaren which is the same as the novel by Liza Marklund from which it was adapted. It stars Helena Bergström, Örjan Ramberg, Ewa Fröling and Pernilla August amongst others. The film was directed by Colin Nutley, who is also married to the lead actress Helena Bergström.

Ave Caesar! is a 1919 Hungarian drama film directed by Alexander Korda and starring Oscar Beregi Sr., María Corda and Gábor Rajnay. A debauched Habsburg Prince sends out one of his aide-de-camps to bring him back a gypsy girl. The film was considered as an attack on the aristocracy. It was made by Korda for the state-owned film industry during the Hungarian Soviet Republic. Once the regime fell later that year Korda was arrested and eventually compelled to leave Hungary as part of the White Terror.
The Deep is a 2012 Icelandic drama film directed by Baltasar Kormákur. The film was selected as the Icelandic entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards, making the January shortlist. It was also nominated for the 2013 Nordic Council Film Prize. The film is based on the true story of Guðlaugur Friðþórsson, a fisherman who survived in the freezing ocean after his boat capsized off the south coast of Iceland.
Il terrorista, internationally released as The Terrorist, is a 1963 Italian war drama film directed by Gianfranco De Bosio. It is inspired to real life events of the Italian partisan Otello Pighin. The film entered the 24th Venice International Film Festival, in which it won the Pasinetti Award.

A Modern Dubarry is a 1927 German silent drama film directed by Alexander Korda and starring María Corda, Alfred Abel and Friedrich Kayßler. The title is a reference to the life of the eighteenth century courtesan Madame Du Barry. It was made by Felsom Film and distributed by the major studio UFA. Location shooting took place on the French Riviera. The film's sets were designed by the art director Oscar Friedrich Werndorff. It features performances from Hans Albers and Marlene Dietrich both of whom later achieved greater fame.

Thirst aka Hijo de Hombre, aka Choferes del Chaco is a 1960 Argentine-Spanish war film directed by Lucas Demare. It is set during the Chaco War (1932–35) between Bolivia and Paraguay, sometimes known as the "War of the Thirst". The script is based on a chapter of Augusto Roa Bastos novel Hijo de Hombre. It was made as a co-production between Argentina Sono Film and the Spanish company Suevia Films.
The National Union was a short-lived South African political party founded in 1960 by Japie Basson after he was expelled from the ruling National Party. It was meant to provide a political home for Nationalists who had become disillusioned with J. G. Strydom and Hendrik Verwoerd's increasingly hard-line apartheid policies. Basson recruited former Chief Justice of South Africa Henry Allan Fagan to stand as the party's candidate for President in the 1961 general election, in which the party won 6.26% of the vote but only one parliamentary seat. The party soon fizzled out and was absorbed into the United Party.
Óscar Alberto Pérez was a Venezuelan investigator for the CICPC, Venezuela's investigative agency. He was also an actor in a film to promote the role of detectives in the CICPC. He is better known for being responsible for the Caracas helicopter incident during the 2017 Venezuelan protests and the 2017 Venezuelan constitutional crisis. His killing in the El Junquito raid received worldwide attention by the media and the political establishment, and was met with accusations of extrajudicial killing.
Watu Wote: All of Us, or simply Watu Wote is a 2017 Kenyan-German, live-action short film directed by Katja Benrath, as her graduation project at Hamburg Media School. The film is based on a December 2015 bus attack by Al-Shabaab in Mandera, Kenya. The film received critical acclaim, winning a Student Academy Award for Narrative, and received an Academy Award nomination for Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film at the 90th Academy Awards. Production faced difficulties when the crew's camera was stolen before filming had begun.
Spider is a 2019 political thriller film directed by Andrés Wood and written by Guillermo Calderón. It was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. It was selected as the Chilean entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. It is a co-production between Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
