The Thirsty Crows are an American rock band from the South Bay area of Los Angeles, California. Thematically their songs tend to revolve around horror, binge drinking, and acts of revenge.
Founded in the early 2011 by former members of the Punk/Metal band Gabriels Fallen, Steve Huante and Chris Saunders along with longtime mutual friend Mike DiRienzo.
They started recording their self-titled album in 2013, produced and engineered by Biohazard front man Billy Graziadei at Firewater Studios [1] in Gardena, California. In the months during the mixing phase of this album, they released a live full-length record titled "Live at The Rockabilly Reunion" recorded at The 6th Annual Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion. Subsequently, their self-titled album was mastered by Maor Appelbaum and then released by Los Angeles-based record label M.F.G.F. Records in 2014.
In addition to touring to promote their studio release, The Thirsty Crows have shared the stage many acts including Nekromantix, Koffin Kats, Stellar Corpses, Brian Setzer, Lee Rocker, Wanda Jackson, The Chop Tops, Agent Orange, Guana Batz, The Polecats, D.I., Dick Dale, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, and Deke Dickerson. [2] Additionally they also perform heavily in the rockabilly festival and car show circuit including events such as Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender, Rhythm & Rods, and The Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion. Although they originally started as a trio, in early 2015 they added former guitarist of the punk band The Saints and Sinners, Victor Cisneros to their roster as a second guitarist and fourth member of the group.
By mid-2015 they released a music video for their single Devil's Highway [4] featuring indie actress Jennifer Wenger, [5] most well known as the star of the film Confessions of a Superhero.
September 2015 saw them featured in the third volume of the time traveling Western graphic novel Guns A’Blazin’ written by Mike Wellman, illustrated by Rafael Navarro and published by Atomic Basement Entertainment as the backing bar band during a demonic assault.
In December 2017 they signed to the independent record label Batcave Records, [6] the brain child of Dusty Graves of the psychobilly band Stellar Corpses and Rene D la Muerte of The Brains to record their newest album "Hangman's Noose".
The band coined the phrase "South Bay Rockabilly" to describe their heavier, fast-paced blend of distorted rockabilly, psychobilly, and punk rock musical genres as they were heavily influenced by earlier musical acts to come out of their hometown area such as Pennywise and Black Flag.
The group is also and endorsed by Gretsch guitars, Deuce Bass Co. upright bass bridges, [7] and Shadow Electronics pick ups. [8]
The Cramps were an American rock band formed in 1976 and active until 2006. The band split after the death of lead singer Lux Interior in 2009. Their line-up rotated frequently during their existence, with the husband-and-wife duo of Interior and lead guitarist and occasional bass guitarist Poison Ivy comprising the only ever-present members. The addition of guitarist Bryan Gregory and drummer Pam Balam resulted in the first complete lineup in April 1976.
Death rock is a rock music subgenre incorporating horror elements and gothic theatrics. It emerged from punk rock on the West Coast of the United States in the early 1980s and overlaps with the gothic rock and horror punk genres. Tiger Army is an American psychobilly band based in Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in 1996 in Berkeley, California, and its only constant member is singer, guitarist, and lead songwriter Nick 13. The band has released six studio albums and four EPs.
Psychobilly is a rock music fusion genre that mixes elements of rockabilly and punk rock. It's been defined as "loud frantic rockabilly music", it has also been said that it "takes the traditional countrified rock style known as rockabilly, ramp[ing] up its speed to a sweaty pace, and combin[ing] it with punk rock and imagery lifted from horror films and late-night sci-fi schlock,... [creating a] gritty honky tonk punk rock." Dark imagery is also central to an offshoot of psychobilly known as gothabilly.
The Meteors are an English psychobilly band formed in 1980. Originally from London, England, they are often credited with giving the psychobilly subgenre — which fuses punk rock with rockabilly — its distinctive sound and style.
Shelton Hank Williams, known as Hank Williams III, is an American musician, singer and multi-instrumentalist, known for his unique fusion of traditional country music, rockabilly, and punk rock. He was the drummer of hardcore punk band Arson Anthem, and former bassist of Phil Anselmo's band Superjoint Ritual. He has released eleven studio albums, including five for Curb Records. Williams is the grandson of Hank Williams, the son of Hank Williams Jr., the nephew of Jett Williams, and the half-brother of Holly Williams, and the father of Coleman Williams.
The Reverend Horton Heat is the stage name of American musician James C. Heath as well as the name of his Dallas, Texas-based psychobilly trio. Heath is a singer, songwriter and guitarist. A Prick magazine reviewer called Heath the "godfather of modern rockabilly and psychobilly".
HorrorPops are a Danish punk band that formed in 1996. The band's sound is rooted in psychobilly, rockabilly, and punk rock.
The Quakes are an American psychobilly band from Buffalo, New York, United States. They were formed in 1986. When the band began in the late 1980s, there was no psychobilly scene to speak of in the United States. The Quakes moved to London to try to find an audience.
The Batcave was a weekly club-night launched at 69 Dean Street in central London in 1982. It is considered to be the birthplace of the Southern English goth subculture. It lent its name to the term Batcaver, used to describe fans of the original gothic rock music, who would adorn themselves in Batwing coffin necklaces to distinguish themselves from other goth clubs.
Mad Sin is a German psychobilly group that began in 1987. Their style is not "...constrained by the psychobilly tag but veer[s] into punk, country and metal influences too."
Patricia Day is the Danish upright bassist and lead singer for the rockabilly/psychobilly band, HorrorPops.
George Graquitena, is an American vocalist, drummer and bassist, known for his participation in many south Florida punk and alternative rock bands from the 1980s through the present. He is also known by the stage name of George Van Orsdel.
The Chop Tops were a rockabilly trio from Santa Cruz, California consisting of Sinner, Shelby (guitar), and Josh. The band was formed by Sinner in 1995, Shelby joined in 1999, and Josh took over bass duties in 2014. The band coined the phrase "Revved-Up Rockabilly" to describe their wild, upbeat blend of rockabilly, psychobilly, old punk, teddy boy, and surf music genres. The Chop Tops headlined their own national tours, toured with bands like Mad Sin and the Nekromantix, and opened for many bands including the Dead Kennedys, Suicidal Tendencies, Dick Dale, John Lee Hooker, and Chuck Berry.
The Young Werewolves are a Philadelphia rock band formed in 2002. The trio have been labeled rockabilly, psychobilly, punk, garage, and surf by publications such as Allmusic, Fangoria, The Village Voice, Maximum RocknRoll, assorted Horror, Tattoo, Hot Rod magazines, several alternative weeklies and international fanzines. The band is distributed through Cargo Music.

Devils Brigade is the eponymous debut album by the rock band Devils Brigade, a side project by Matt Freeman of Rancid. The band, which performs a mix of punk rock and psychobilly, features Freeman on lead vocals and double bass in contrast to the backing vocals and bass guitar he typically performs in Rancid. Originally envisioned as a concept album about the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, Devils Brigade was co-written by Freeman and his longtime bandmate Tim Armstrong, who also played guitar on the album and served as record producer alongside Ryan Foltz. The album also features X drummer DJ Bonebrake and contributions from Rancid's Lars Frederiksen, and was released August 31, 2010 through Armstrong's label Hellcat Records.
Stellar Corpses is a Punk rock band formed in Santa Cruz, California in 2005. The first lineup included singer, guitarist and primary songwriter, Dusty Grave, upright bassist Dan Lamothe, drummer, Matt Macabre and lead guitarist, Mr Grim. Their sound and style combines elements of punk, psychobilly, Horror punk, gothic rock and metal. Since their formation Stellar Corpses have continued to tour both in the US as well as internationally.
