The Truth is the commercial debut studio album from South Auckland, New Zealand Rapper Young Sid, released through Move The Crowd records (a subsidiary of Universal). The album was the product of Young Sid's visit to New York City in 2006 where he recorded with credited producer Cochise. After spending 16 days in the studio Young Sid returned home to New Zealand where he completed The Truth in the MTC studios.

Hilltop Hoods

Hilltop Hoods are an Australian hip hop group that formed in 1991 in Blackwood, Adelaide, South Australia. They are regarded as pioneers of the "larrikin-like" style of Australian hip hop. The group was founded by Suffa and Pressure, who were joined by DJ Debris after fellow founder, DJ Next, left in 1999. The group released its first extended play, Back Once Again, in 1997 and have subsequently released eight studio albums, two "restrung" albums and three DVDs.

P-Money Musical artist

Peter Wadams, better known by his stage name P-Money, is a New Zealand hip-hop DJ and producer. One of his best-known works is "Everything", featuring New Zealand R&B singer Vince Harder, which reached number one on the New Zealand Singles Chart for three weeks in 2008; however, he is probably best known for his recordings with Scribe, including the 2003 smash hit "Not Many". Peter Wadams is also credited as co-writer and producer on the 2017 hit "Call on Me" by Australian singer Starley.

New Zealand Hip Hop derives from the wider hip hop cultural movement originating amongst African Americans in the United States. Like the parent movement, New Zealand hip hop consists of four parts: rapping, DJing, graffiti art and breakdancing. The first element of hip hop to reach New Zealand was breakdancing, which gained notoriety after the release of the 1979 movie The Warriors. The first hip hop hit single, "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang, became a hit in New Zealand when it was released there in 1980, a year after it was released in the United States. By the middle of the 1980s, breakdancing and graffiti art were established in urban areas like Wellington and Christchurch. By the early 1990s hip hop became a part of mainstream New Zealand culture.

Matakite John Chong Nee, better known by his stage name Chong Nee, is a New Zealand hip hop and R&B singer-songwriter and producer.

The Electric Confectionaires were a four-piece musical group from Auckland, New Zealand. Their music is a diverse fusion of styles ranging from rock to garage, blues, surf and jazz. The band formed in 2005 at Takapuna Grammar School where original members Jaisi Sheehan, Haddon Smith, Rob Fenton, Calum Gunn and Toby McLeanan shared a music class. The group gained nationwide recognition when they won the 2005 Smokefree Rockquest.

Delroy "Junior" Reid is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall musician, best known for his featuring on the songs "One Blood", "It's Okay " and "This Is Why I'm Hot", as well as being the lead vocalist for Black Uhuru on three albums: Brutal, Positive and Black Uhuru Live in New York.

What Doesn't Kill Me is the second studio album by New Zealand urban rapper Young Sid. It features the singles "Never Waste a Day" and "Stuck in a Box" which features New Zealand soul singer Stan Walker. The Album was released on 3 May 2010 and since then has debuted on the RIANZ album charts on 10 May 2010 at number 16. It later peaked at number 11. It then slipped off the charts after 8 weeks in the top 40. The title alludes to the Nietzsche quote.

SWIDT are a hip-hop collective from Onehunga, New Zealand. SmokeyGotBeatz debut project SWIDT vs Everybody was listed as No.16 in The New Zealand Herald's 20 Best Albums of 2016. They released their official debut album STONEYHUNGA, dedicated to their home suburb of Onehunga, in July 2017. Members of the collective include SPYCC, SMOKE, INF, Boomer Tha God and JAMAL.
