The Twigs, aka Twigs, are twin sisters and musician/singer/songwriters Laura Good and Linda Good. Raised in Chicago, by way of Ohio and Mexico City, the twins are self-taught musicians who learned piano, guitar and songwriting by studying Beatles songs. Using their childhood nickname "Twigs" as their band name, the duo has released four albums. [1] Their songs have appeared in film and television shows including "Love, Love, Love (Remix)" in Cruel Intentions 3 (Sony Pictures) and "Oh Mary" in Men in Trees (ABC). After being a well-known part of the alternative pop scene in Chicago, [2] they moved to California in 2000, which launched their careers as songwriters and producers, and where the LA Weekly described them as, "...Silky voiced sirens with universal appeal." [3] Linda toured separately as a keyboardist/backup singer with such notable acts as Jane's Addiction, The Mars Volta, Lisa Marie Presley, and Bitter:Sweet, while still co-writing with Laura on Twigs projects. They released a CD of rock/pop songs especially for children, Jump Right In in 2013. [4] In 2017, Laura Good was featured in a short film with musicians Daniel Carlson and Bark Benton produced by the Bouffant Collective. [5] Their most recent project was writing the original musical, LadyShip, which debuted at the New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF) in New York City in 2019. The Twigs Musical "LADYSHIP"

Linda Good [8] and Laura Good [9] wrote the music, book and lyrics for a new original historical musical entitled LadyShip. [10] LadyShip was inspired by true events during the time when approximately 25,000 convict women were sent from England to Australia from 1788 and 1868 under the British government's Transportation Act — a supposedly more humane alternative to the death penalty. The musical follows the characters of two Irish teenage sisters, Alice and Mary, along with some of their fellow convicts, and how they narrowly survive the perilous journey. Ladyship was an Official Grand Jury Selection of the New York Musical Festival (NYMF) 2019, [11] and made its debut in New York City at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theater on July 10, 2019. The debut production of Ladyship featured Maddie Shea Baldwin (Bright Star) as Alice Reed, Caitlin Cohn (Lolita, My Love) as Mary Reed, Jennifer Blood (Matilda the Musical) as Lady Jane Sharp, Jordon Bolden (TV: Daredevil, Law & Order: SVU) as Marcus "Finn" Findley, Noelle Hogan (Fun Home, US Tour) as Kitty MacDougal, Justin R.G. Holcomb (Honor Bound) as Zeke Cropper, Lisa Karlin (Ragtime, Revival) as Abigail Gainsborough, Brandi Knox (Hairspray, Regional) as Mrs. Pickering, Quentin Oliver Lee (The Phantom of the Opera, US Tour) as Captain Josiah Adams, and Trevor St. John-Gilbert (Les Miserables, Regional) as Lieutenant Brandon Adams. The production featured scenic design by David Goldstein, costume design by Whitney Locher, and lighting design by Sam Gordon. Patrick Calhoun as sound designer, Deb Gaouette was props designer, Adele Rylands was the fight director, Sara Brians was choreographer, and Michael Danek was the production stage manager. Michael Cassara Casting was the casting director, Visceral Entertainment was the production manager, Connor Delves did social media and Kampfire PR was publicist. [15] Simone Allen [16] was music director.

Ladyship: High School Version premiered January 13, 2023 at Clear Brook High School by the Clear Brook Players, in Friendswood, TX. [17] It was directed by Asa Smith and Michelle Smith, with a cast and crew of over 45 high-school actors and theater crew. Music direction was by Stephanie Cramer, and choreography was by Hayden West. [18] For the performance run, The CB Players partnered with Hands of Justice, a survivor-led anti-trafficking nonprofit organization that helps survivors of sex-trafficking reclaim their lives.

Eleanor Torrey Powell was an American dancer and actress. Best remembered for her tap dance numbers in musical films in the 1930s and 1940s, she was one of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's top dancing stars during the Golden Age of Hollywood. Frank Wildhorn is an American composer of both musicals and popular songs. His musical Jekyll & Hyde ran for four years on Broadway. He also wrote the #1 International hit song "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" for Whitney Houston.

<i>Jekyll & Hyde</i> (musical) Musical

Jekyll & Hyde is a 1990 musical loosely based on the 1886 novella The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. Originally conceived for the stage by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, it features music by Frank Wildhorn, a book by Leslie Bricusse and lyrics by all of them. After a world premiere run in Houston, Texas, the musical embarked on a national tour of the United States prior to its Broadway debut in 1997. Many international productions in various languages have since been staged including two subsequent North American tours, two tours in the United Kingdom, a concert version, a revamped US tour in 2012, a 2013 Broadway revival featuring Constantine Maroulis, and an Australian concert version in 2019 starring Anthony Warlow.

Altar Boyz is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker and book by Kevin Del Aguila. Centering on a fictitious Christian boy band from Ohio, the show satirizes, among other things, the phenomenon of boy bands and the popularity of Christian-themed music in contemporary American culture. It began an Off Broadway run on March 1, 2005, and closed on January 10, 2010, after sixteen previews and 2,032 regular performances, making it the 9th longest-running Off-Broadway musical of all time.

Laura Ilene Benanti is an American actress and singer. Over the course of her Broadway career, she has received five Tony Award nominations. She played Louise in the 2008 Broadway revival of Gypsy, winning the 2008 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Benanti then appeared in the Broadway musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown in 2010, winning the Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. She played Elsa Schräder in the 2013 NBC television production of The Sound of Music Live! and, in 2015, began playing twin sisters Alura and Astra in the TV series Supergirl. The Wedding Singer is a musical with music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy. It is based on the 1998 film of the same name. The musical revolves around Robbie, who sings at weddings, his failed relationship with his former fiancée, and his romance with a new love, Julia.

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) was an annual three-week summer festival that operated from 2004 to 2019. It presented more than 30 new musicals a year in New York City's midtown theater district. More than half were chosen by leading theater artists and producers through an open-submission, double-blind evaluation process. The remaining shows were invited to participate by the Festival's artist staff. The festival premiered over 447 musicals, which featured the work of over 8,000 artists and were attended by more than 300,000 people. More than 100 NYMF shows went on to further productions. By NYMF's count, alumni productions have been produced in all 50 US states and in 27 countries, and have been seen by roughly four million people. Over 20 NYMF shows have had cast albums recorded.

Linda Good is an American musician, composer, writer, songwriter and producer. She is co-founder, with her twin sister Laura, of the alternative pop band The Twigs. Good has also toured as a keyboardist with Jane's Addiction (2001),The Mars Volta (2002), the Lisa Marie Presley Band (2002–2006) and Bitter:Sweet (2007–2008). She co-wrote the musical LadyShip, which was an Official Grand Jury Selection of the New York Musical Festival (NYMF) and debuted in New York City at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theater in July 2019. LadyShip was also a finalist for the 2020 Richard Rodgers Award for Musical Theater. She and her twin sister Laura were born in Ohio, lived in Mexico City as toddlers, and grew up in Chicago. She is a graduate of the Chicago Academy for Performing Arts High School in Chicago, the University of Illinois, and studied abroad at University College-Cardiff, Wales. She has been based out of Los Angeles since 2000.
