The Verses is an Australian band that features the brother and sister combination of Ella and Jesse Hooper, the founding members of popular Australian rock band, Killing Heidi. Their debut album Seasons was released on Friday, 13 August 2010.
Ella and Jesse Hooper, born in Violet Town, Victoria, Australia, have been playing music together since they were young. In August 1999, they rose to fame with previous band Killing Heidi, which spawned three top 10 albums, and eight singles. In 2006, after rumours of the band splitting, they posted a blog on their MySpace blog stating they were taking a break. Throughout 2006, Ella and Jesse played several gigs as a duo under the name of Killing Heidi. They played a mix of old Killing Heidi material, as well as some new, unrecorded tracks.
On 13 November 2009, the band's first EP, The Verses was released. It peaked at #11 [1] on the Australian ARIA Physical Singles Chart, but failed to impact the top 100 overall singles. Its single, "Forever More", received little airplay. On their official website, the band posted news about their upcoming album, Seasons , to be released on 13 August 2010. It will feature new single "Want Everything", which combines the verses of previous single "Forever More" with the chorus of "Everything at Once", also from the band's debut EP. The album debuted at #13 on the Australian albums chart, [2] and fell to #28 the following week. [3] The 2nd single from the album is "Running Away".

Alphaville is a German synth-pop band formed in Münster in 1982. They gained popularity in the 1980s. The group was founded by singers Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd, and Frank Mertens. They achieved chart success with the singles "Forever Young", "Big in Japan", "Sounds Like a Melody", "The Jet Set", and "Dance with Me". Gold remains the only continuous member of Alphaville. They took their name from Jean-Luc Godard's film of the same name.
Killing Heidi are an Australian rock band, formed in Violet Town, Victoria in 1996, initially as a folk-pop duo by siblings Ella and Jesse Hooper. The band has released three studio albums: Reflector, which reached No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Present and Killing Heidi. Their top 20 singles are "Weir", "Mascara", "Live Without It", "Outside of Me" and "I Am". At the ARIA Music Awards of 2000 they were nominated in seven categories and won four trophies: Album of the Year, Best Group, Breakthrough Artist – Album and Best Rock Album for Reflector. At the APRA Music Awards of 2001 Ella and Jesse Hooper won Songwriter of the Year. The group disbanded in 2006, with Ella and Jesse taking a lower profile with an acoustic folk duo, The Verses. In 2016, it was announced that the band would be reforming to celebrate its 20th anniversary, and the band have continued to tour since.
The Sleepy Jackson are an Australian alternative rock band formed in Perth, Western Australia. The band's name was inspired by a former drummer who was narcoleptic. The band revolves around the distinctive vocal style of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Luke Steele. Stemming from a musical family, Luke's father Rick Steele is a local blues musician, and two of Luke's siblings are also musicians, with brother Jesse a former member of The Sleepy Jackson, and sister Katy, who fronts another Perth rock band, Little Birdy. While a series of acclaimed EPs brought The Sleepy Jackson to a broader musical attention of Australia, it was the release of their 2003 album Lovers and 2006 second album Personality – One Was a Spider, One Was a Bird that directed significant international focus upon the band.
The Reels was an Australian rock band which formed in Dubbo, New South Wales in 1976. It disbanded in 1991, and reformed in 2007. Its 1981 song "Quasimodo's Dream" was voted one of the top 10 Australian songs of all time by a 100-member panel from Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) in 2001. The Reels had top 10 Australian singles chart successes with covers of Herb Alpert's "This Guy's in Love with You" and Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising". Rock music historian Ian McFarlane described the group as "one of the most original and invigorating pop bands to emerge from the Australian new wave movement of the late 1970s."

The Afters is an American Christian rock band founded by Josh Havens and Matt Fuqua. Havens and Fuqua first worked together in a Starbucks coffee shop in Mesquite, Texas, where they performed songs for customers, before deciding to form a band. They were initially joined by Brad Wigg from the same Starbucks and drummer Michael Burden and performed under the name Blisse. When Burden left the band, Marc Dodd, from the Mesquite Starbucks, stepped in. Their song "Never Going Back to OK" was the most-played song on R&R magazine's Christian CHR chart for 2008.
Ella Keighery Hooper is an Australian rock music singer-songwriter, radio presenter and TV personality. Hooper is the lead singer of Killing Heidi. The band formed in 1996 and also featured her older brother Jesse Hooper. Killing Heidi broke up in 2006. Ella and Jesse have performed small scale venues as an acoustic band, The Verses.

Hellogoodbye is an American pop rock band that was formed in Huntington Beach, California in 2001 by singer Forrest Kline. They were signed to Drive-Thru Records and released their first full-length album Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! in 2006, having previously released the EP Hellogoodbye in 2004, and DVD OMG HGB DVD ROTFL in 2005. In 2010, the band released Would It Kill You? on their label Wasted Summer Records. The album was released in the United Kingdom and Europe by LAB Records on March 14, 2011. Hellogoodbye released their third album, Everything Is Debatable, on October 29, 2013, while touring as the opening act for Paramore's The Self-Titled Tour. Their fourth album, S'Only Natural, was released on October 5, 2018.
The Music were an English alternative rock band, formed in Kippax, Leeds in 1999. Comprising Robert Harvey, Adam Nutter, Stuart Coleman (bass) and Phil Jordan (drums), the band came to prominence with the release of their self-titled debut album in 2002. The band released two further studio albums, Welcome to the North (2004) and Strength in Numbers (2008), before parting ways in 2011.
"I Am" is a song by Australian rock band Killing Heidi, written by Ella Hooper, Jesse Hooper, Warren Jenkin and Adam Pedretti and produced by John Travis for the band's third album, Killing Heidi (2004). The song was written in Los Angeles after "a couple of gross guys wolf-whistled" at the lead singer, Hooper, while she was walking down the street.

Killing Heidi is the third album by Australian rock band Killing Heidi, released by Columbia Records in Australia on 30 August 2004. It was the band's first album without their producer Paul Kosky—who worked on their previous albums and has a more "sophisticated and grittier" feel to it with the lead singer, Ella Hooper, stating that releasing the album is "just like a re-launch". Killing Heidi debuted in the top ten on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart, making it their second top ten album and sales were similar to those of Killing Heidi's second album, Present (2002) – both were certified gold by ARIA for 35,000 units shipped. Their third album gave Killing Heidi another top twenty single with "I Am", but its second single, "Calm Down" was not a major hit.
Miami Horror are an Australian electronic music group from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Benjamin Plant, the producer and DJ, formed Miami Horror initially as a solo project. In addition to Plant, the band features Daniel Whitechurch (keyboards), and currently Rhythm Luna (drums), while featuring different vocalists and guitar players including Reva Devito (vocals), TC Milan of Crush Club (vocals), Nicolas Mulhall of Queen Magic (guitar), and Tom Frazer (guitar). The band takes influence from dance and rock artists of the 1970s and 1980s such as Prince, New Order, Todd Rundgren, and Pink Floyd, combining it with modern production techniques from styles such as house and pop music.

Richard Arnold Pleasance is an Australian rock musician and producer. He was a founding member of Boom Crash Opera on guitar, bass guitar, vocals and as a songwriter in 1985; they released three albums before Pleasance left in 1992. Their hit Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) singles, "Great Wall" and "Onion Skin" were co-written by Pleasance, who also co-produced their second album, These Here Are Crazy Times. His debut solo release, Galleon received four nominations at the ARIA Music Awards for 1992. Pleasance composed the theme music for Australian television series, SeaChange (1998–2001), for 2006 feature film Kenny and more recently he composed the theme music for the prison drama series Wentworth. Pleasance is married to Michelle and, as from May 2009, he was living in Hepburn Springs, Victoria where he has a recording studio.
Grouplove is an American alternative rock band that was formed in 2009 by Hannah Hooper, Christian Zucconi, Sean Gadd (bass), Andrew Wessen, and Ryan Rabin (drums).
Jesse Hooper is an Australian musician, singer-songwriter, producer and community developer. Hooper founded the band Killing Heidi together with his sister Ella Hooper in 1996. The band received critical acclaim and had hits with singles "Mascara", "Live Without It" and "Weir". Killing Heidi broke up in 2006 but Jesse and Ella continued to make music together with new band The Verses, formed in 2009.
