The Workmans Club is a music venue in Dublin.

History

The building, located on Wellington Quay (next door to the U2-owned Clarence Hotel) has existed on this site for over 160 years and from 1888 to 2003 was the home of the original Workingmens Club. [1]

U2 Four-member Irish rock band, from Dublin

U2 are an Irish rock band from Dublin, formed in 1976. The group consists of Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr.. Initially rooted in post-punk, U2's musical style has evolved throughout their career, yet has maintained an anthemic quality built on Bono's expressive vocals and the Edge's effects-based guitar textures. Their lyrics, often embellished with spiritual imagery, focus on personal and sociopolitical themes. Popular for their live performances, the group have staged several ambitious and elaborate tours over their career.

Clarence Hotel

The Clarence Hotel is a four-star 51-room hotel located at 6–8 Wellington Quay, Dublin 2, Ireland. It is in the Temple Bar neighbourhood, on the River Liffey. It was built in 1852, and bought by U2 lead singer Bono and lead guitarist The Edge and their business partners in 1992, and later refurbished in 1996.

Actor Cillian Murphy appeared at the venue in 2011 in aid of Focus Ireland. The event was hosted by Des Bishop and featured the band Little Green Cars. [2]

Focus Ireland is one of the largest housing and homelessness organisations in Ireland.

Des Bishop American-Irish comedian

Desmond "Des" Bishop is an Irish-American comedian. He was brought up in New York but moved to Ireland at the age of 14. He primarily resides there.

Venue

The venue is based over two floors and with a number of sections. The main live room is a 300 capacity venue and beside it is the venue bar. The first floor bar features regular DJ's, the vintage room is significantly smaller, the no.9 room and the rooftop terrace make up the entire venue. [3]

Villagers are an Irish indie folk band from Dublin, formed in 2008. As well as songwriter and vocalist/guitarist Conor O'Brien, the band currently consists of Danny Snow, Cormac Curran (keyboards), Gwion Llewelyn and Mali Llywelyn (harp).

Located on Thomas Street, Dublin 8, Vicar Street has capacity for 1,050 people for seated performances and 1,500 people for standing gigs. The venue is owned by Harry Crosbie and operated by Peter Aiken. Since opening in 1998, the venue has become a popular setting for a wide range of acts including stand-up comedy, drama performances and a variety of concerts. The first artist to play on the Vicar Street Stage was local singer/songwriter Shay Cotter. Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip band

dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip were a hip-hop duo, combining electronic beats with sung, spoken, and rapped lyrics. The pair are Daniel Stephens, and David Peter Meads (b.1981). The name "Scroobius Pip" is an intentional misspelling of the Edward Lear poem, The Scroobious Pip. Dan le Sac originally hails from Corringham and Scroobius Pip from neighbouring Stanford-le-Hope in Essex. Their first single was "Thou Shalt Always Kill". Signed with the Sunday Best record label, Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip released their debut album in 2008. Titled Angles, it reached 31 in the UK album chart. They released their second album entitled The Logic of Chance on 15 March 2010 on Sunday Best. Scroobius Pip released his debut solo album, entitled Distraction Pieces, on 19 September 2011 – while Dan le Sac released his, Space Between the Words, on 9 July 2012. The duo's third album entitled Repent Replenish Repeat was released 7 October 2013 and debuted at number 22 in the UK top 40, the duo's highest album chart position to date.

The 3Arena (originally The Point Depot) is an indoor amphitheatre located at North Wall Quay in the Dublin Docklands in Dublin, Ireland. The venue opened as The O2 on 16 December 2008. It was built on the site of the former Point Theatre, a smaller music venue which operated from 1988 to 2007, retaining only some of the outer facade. The Point Theatre was branded as "The Point Depot", in recognition of its original role as a railway goods handling station. The venue was re-branded on 4 September 2014 due to the takeover of O2 Ireland by Three Ireland.

The Blades are an Irish new wave band who formed in the late 1970s in the South Dublin neighbourhood of Ringsend, with Paul Cleary on bass and vocals, his brother Laurence on guitar and friend Pat Larkin on drums. The band currently consists of Paul Cleary, Brian Foley and Jake Reilly.

Temple Bar TradFest is an annual music and culture festival that takes place in late January in Dublin, Ireland. The festival celebrates traditional Irish and folk music and cultural offerings. Fiach Moriarty is an Irish singer-songwriter and television presenter from Dublin, Ireland. His debut album So I came out in 2010 which appeared in the Irish top 100 album chart and peaked at 62. His second record was released in April 2015 and debuted at number 29 in the Irish chart.

Megan Ruby Walsh is an Irish singer who joined the singing group Celtic Woman in 2018.
