The Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium is a field hockey stadium in Accra, Ghana. The stadium hosted the 2009 Hockey African Cup for Nations. [1]

Theodosia Salome Okoh was a Ghanaian stateswoman, teacher and artist known for designing Ghana's national flag in 1957. She also played a leading role in the development of hockey in Ghana.

The Ghana Hockey Association is the governing body of field hockey in Ghana. It is affiliated to IHF International Hockey Federation and AHF African Hockey Federation. The headquarters of the association is in Accra, Ghana. The main hockey venue of the association is the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium.

The Ghana men's and women's national hockey teams use the stadium for trainings and matches, in preparation for international tournaments. [3]

The Ghana men's national field hockey team is ranked at 36 according to FIH Rankings . Ghana participated in the Hockey World League for the first time in (2016–2017). In Round 1, they played in the African group with Kenya, Namibia and Nigeria, winning all three pool matches including a 1-0 victory over the strong Kenyan team. In Round 2, they were placed in Pool B with Sri Lanka, Egypt and China. Ghana beat only Sri Lanka, and in the quarterfinal clash, Oman stunned Ghana 4-3. In the end, Ghana finished 6th in the rankings.

The Ghana women's national field hockey team is ranked at 32 according to FIH Rankings . Ghana participated in the Hockey World League in (2016–2017). In Round 1, they played in the African group with Kenya and Nigeria, winning both pool matches. In Round 2, which was played in Valencia in February 2017, they finished in 8th position.

The stadium is also home to the men's and women's Ghanaian Hockey League, as well as the master's and youth leagues. [4]

The 2017 Hockey Africa Cup of Nations in field hockey for men and women was held from 22 to 29 October 2017. The winners of each event qualified for the 2018 Men's and 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup.
