The Union Cycliste Internationale is the world governing body for sports cycling and oversees international competitive cycling events. The UCI is based in Aigle, Switzerland.
The Reading Classic was an annual bicycle road racing event held in Reading, Pennsylvania from 2006 to 2008. In its inaugural year, the 2006 Reading Classic was part of the Commerce Bank Triple Crown of Cycling on the United States' Pro Cycling Tour (PCT), and served as a remplacement of the Trenton Classic. The men's elite event is ranked 1.1 by the International Cycling Union (UCI), the sport's governing body, and is part of the UCI America Tour.
The UCI Road World Championships are the annual world championships for bicycle road racing organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The UCI Road World Championships consist of events for road race and individual time trial, and as of 2012 Team Time Trials.
Garmin-Cervélo was an elite professional women's cycling team registered in Great Britain and racing on the UCI Women's Road World Cup circuit. The team was previously known was Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team, but in 2009, with the creation of the UCI Professional Continental team Cervélo TestTeam, the women's team changed names to match the men's team. When the men's Cervélo TestTeam merged with Garmin–Transitions for the 2011 season, the team changed names again, becoming Garmin-Cervélo to again match the men's team. In 2007, the team was known as Raleigh-Lifeforce-Creation and prior to 2007, the team was known as the Univega Pro Cycling Team.
The UCI world championships are annual competitions promoted by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to determine world champion cyclists. They are held in several different styles of racing, in a different country each year. Championship winners wear a white jersey with coloured bands around the chest for the following year. The similarity to the colours of a rainbow gives them the colloquial name of "the rainbow jersey." The first three individuals or teams in each championship win gold, silver and bronze medals. Former world champions are allowed to wear a trim to their collar and sleeves in the same pattern as the rainbow jersey.

Samuel Ryan Bewley is a New Zealand racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Mitchelton–Scott. Bewley has also competed for UCI ProTeam Team RadioShack, as well as the BikeNZ PureBlack Racing team.
Hayden Godfrey is a cycling competitor for New Zealand. He competed at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne where along with Tim Gudsell, Peter Latham and Marc Ryan he won a bronze medal in the Team pursuit.
Peter David Latham was a cycling competitor for New Zealand. He competed in the team pursuit at the 2004 Olympic Games, where New Zealand finished tenth. In 2005 Latham won the bronze medal in the Under 23 Individual Time Trial at the Road World Championships in Madrid. He competed at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne where along with Tim Gudsell, Hayden Godfrey and Marc Ryan he won a bronze medal in the Team pursuit.
SpiderTech powered by C10 was a UCI Professional Continental cycling team based in Canada that participated in UCI Continental Circuits races. The team was founded in 2007 by Cycle Sport Management. The team obtained a UCI Continental licence for its first season (2008) under the name of "Team R.A.C.E. Pro" (TRP), "Team Planet Energy" (TPE) in 2009 and SpiderTech powered by Planet Energy (CSM) in 2010. In December 2010 the team was granted a UCI Pro Continental licence for the 2011 and 2012 seasons under the name of SpiderTech powered by C10 (SPI). In October 2012, the team announced that it would take a pause in 2013, since its title sponsor withdrew its sponsorship at the last minute leaving the team without choice to suspend its activities.
AA Drink–leontien.nl was a cycling team based in the Netherlands. The title sponsors were AA Drink, a Dutch sports drinks brand owned by United Soft Drinks, and leontien.nl, a women's health and fitness website associated with former champion cyclist Leontien van Moorsel, whose husband Michael Zijlaard was the team manager.
The 2016 UCI Road World Championships took place in Doha, Qatar, in October 2016. The championships was moved from the traditional September to October to avoid extreme hot and blustery weather. The event consisted of a road race, a team time trial and a time trial for elite men and women and a road race and a time trial for men under-23, junior men and junior women. It was the 89th Road World Championships and the first time that Qatar and the Middle East hosted the championships.

Doull specialises in the team pursuit on the track, and won a gold medal in the discipline at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro; as a result, he became the first Welsh-speaking athlete to win Olympic gold.

The 2019 UCI Road World Championships was held between 22 and 29 September 2019 in Yorkshire, United Kingdom. It was the 92nd UCI Road World Championships and the fourth to be held in the United Kingdom. The championships are traditionally hosted by a single town or city but, while each event in 2019 finished in the North Yorkshire town of Harrogate, the whole county of Yorkshire was the official host. Mads Pedersen of Denmark won the men's road race and Annemiek van Vleuten of the Netherlands won the women's road race.
