Thierry Huillet (born 21 July 1965) is a French pianist and composer of classical and contemporary classical music.
Born in Toulouse, Huillet won first prize at the Conservatoire de Paris where he was a pupil of Pierre Sancan and Germaine Mounier.
In 1987, Huillet won first prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition. He is also laureate of the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition (Bolzano, Italy, 1986, 1994) et du International Music Competition of Japan (Tokyo, 1989). Il a été invité à jouer dans des salles prestigieuses et avec de nombreux grands orchestres.
A teacher at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Toulouse , he is regularly invited to sit as a jury in major international piano competitions.
He forms a duo with violinist and violist Clara Cernat, his wife.
Huillet started composing very late. Nevertheless, his work, very lyrical, already contains more than a hundred opus among which concertos (for violin, violin and viola, piano or oboe), chamber music including a concert for piano and violin Le petit prince. He has also produced numerous transcriptions.
His works are created by great artists but also by the "duo Cernat-Huillet" or the "trio Huillet" where the couple is joined by clarinetist Gari Cayuelas-Krasznai.
Tzigane is a rhapsodic composition by the French composer Maurice Ravel. The original instrumentation was for violin and piano. The first performance took place in London on 26 April 1924 with the dedicatee, Hungarian violinist Jelly d'Arányi, on the violin and Henri Gil-Marchex at the piano. In his biographical sketch of 1928 Ravel spoke of it as "a virtuoso piece in the style of a Hungarian rhapsody". It consists of "a string of successive variations juxtaposed without development".

The luthéal is a kind of hybrid piano which extended the "register" possibilities of a piano by producing cimbalom-like sounds in some registers, exploiting harmonics of the strings when pulling other register-stops, and also some registers making other objects, which were lowered just above the strings, resound. The instrument became obsolete partly because most of its mechanics were too sensitive, needing constant adjustment. The only pieces in the general repertoire to feature the luthéal are L'enfant et les sortilèges (1920–25) and Tzigane (1924), by Maurice Ravel.
Manuel Rosenthal was a French composer and conductor who held leading positions with musical organizations in France and America. He was friends with many contemporary composers, and despite a considerable list of compositions is mostly remembered for having orchestrated the popular ballet score Gaîté Parisienne from piano scores of Offenbach operettas, and for his recordings as a conductor.

The Trio Wanderer is a French piano trio made up of Vincent Coq, piano, Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian, violin, and Raphaël Pidoux, cello, who graduated from the Conservatoire de Paris. In 1988 they won the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, and in 1990 the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in the US.

The Victoires de la musique classique are an annual French classical music award event founded in 1986. The awards are the classical equivalent of the popular music awards Victoires de la Musique and the Victoires du Jazz.
