Thinking About Myself is a studio album by German techno/trance artist Cosmic Baby which was released in 1994. [2] It is Cosmic Baby's second studio album.

Techno is a form of electronic dance music that emerged in Detroit, Michigan, in the United States during the mid-to-late 1980s. The first recorded use of the word techno in reference to a specific genre of music was in 1988. Many styles of techno now exist, but Detroit techno is seen as the foundation upon which a number of sub-genres have been built.

Trance is a genre of electronic music that emerged from the British new-age music scene and the early 1990s German techno and hardcore scenes. At the same time trance music was developing in Europe, the genre was also gathering a following in the Indian state of Goa.

Reception

John Bush of Allmusic stated "Cosmic Baby's second album is one of the high points of a uniquely Teutonic wish to apply Wagnerian concepts of orchestration and grandeur to techno and trance, in a similar fashion to Sven Väth's Accident in Paradise . While Väth is best at constructing beats and rhythms (to the detriment of his bloated quasi-orchestrations), Cosmic Baby proves more than equal to the symphonic task at hand, while his percussion skills rarely arouse any excitement at all. Despite several obvious high points ("Loops of Infinity," "Au Dessous des Nuages," "Cosmic Greets Florida"), the album attempts much but accomplishes little."

Sven Väth German DJ

Sven Väth is a German DJ/producer and three time DJ Awards winner whose career in electronic music spans well over 30 years. The single “Electrica Salsa” with OFF launched his career in 1986. Lovingly referred to as “Papa Sven” by his fans, Sven Väth has made his mark in the music community by being one of Germany’s “pop stars” in the nineties, running two famous night clubs in Germany, and starting his own company Cocoon, which encompasses a booking agency, record label, and a branch for events. He is recognized for cultivating the underground electronic music scene not just in Germany but in Ibiza as well, with his own night at Amnesia for eighteen years and after-parties at creative locations around the island. Sven Väth is a major proponent of vinyl, using only two decks and a mixer for his extensive DJ sets, his longest set having been 30 hours.

Accident in Paradise album by Sven Väth

Accident in Paradise is the debut album of DJ and producer Sven Väth. It was originally released in 1992 by Eye-Q, a German record label that Väth co-founded. A re-release in 1993 featured two bonus tracks. A remix CD was also released in 1993, featuring remixes by Spicelab, DJ Spooky and William Orbit. In 1995 Mixmag rated An Accident in Paradise one of the top-50 dance albums of all time. The most popular songs on the album are the title track and "L'Esperanza," which were both played in clubs during the 1990s and were remixed several times.

It features double-tracked bass guitars played by David Gilmour and Roger Waters, with each bass hard panned into one channel of stereo, but one bass sound is quite muted and dull. According to Gilmour, this is because that particular instrument had old strings on it, and the roadie they had sent to get new strings for it wandered off to see his girlfriend instead.
