This Et Al were an English alternative rock band, from Leeds and Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. [1] They were active between 2002 and 2008. Their sound was compared to My Bloody Valentine, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Queens of the Stone Age, Interpol, and The Stills. [2] [3]

Career

This Et Al formed in Bradford in November 2002. [1] [5] All of their releases enjoyed airtime on MTV2, as well as BBC Radio 1 and XFM. They toured with Minus The Bear, Scarling., Amusement Parks On Fire and ¡Forward, Russia!, and also appeared at the Download Festival and Leeds Festival. [4] [6] [7] [8] After a run of sold out singles and heavy touring for several years, the band released their debut album, Baby Machine , in a limited pressing in 2006 before a wider release on 9 April 2007. [9] After a couple of member changes and a tour in Germany, the band released Figure Eight EP (19 May 2008), [5] [10] followed by a retrospective collection entitled B-Sides & Rarities. The group disbanded in June 2008 following a run of internal disagreements.

Post-This Et Al, frontman Wu went on to record and release his solo project, Stalking Horse, [11] as well as performing as part of Department M with former Grammatics member Owen Brinley. Guitarist Ben formed Bradford-based band Dolphins in 2009 and currently plays in alternative indie band, Big Love. Drummer Steve Wilson, after a stint in fellow Leeds act, Dinosaur Pile-Up, played for the London based band Japanese Voyeurs till 2012 before later joining Leeds-based metal band Hawk Eyes. Former bassist Gavin Bailey is now the frontman of synthpop act Secret Circuits.

The band, featuring the original lineup, reunited briefly for a one-off show with ¡Forward, Russia! at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on 30 November 2013, to celebrate the venue's 100th anniversary. [12]

Mumm-Ra are an English indie rock band, formed in Bexhill on Sea in the early 2000s. The band's name is borrowed from the 1980s cartoon, ThunderCats, whose main villain is named Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living. The group consists of vocalist, keyboard player, and occasional guitarist James New, guitarists James Arguile and Oli Frost, bassist Niall Buckler, and drummer Gareth Jennings. Keyboard player Tommy Bowen joined in 2006 as a touring member, before being made a fully fledged member in their 2012 reunion.

Until 2006, the band only named tracks with numbers, in the order that they were written. The band had used Faux Cyrillic, with its name occasionally typeset as ¡FФЯWДЯD, RUSSIД!. The band went on hiatus after the release of their second album, Life Processes, in 2008. They reformed in 2013 for a show at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds in November 2013 for its 100th anniversary, and then played the Live at Leeds Festival at Leeds Town Hall in 2014.

The Blackout are a post-hardcore band from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, formed in 2003. They released their EP The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout! In October 2007 the band released their debut album, We Are the Dynamite. Their second record, The Best in Town, was released on 25 May 2009 in Europe and 23 June 2009 in the US, both via Epitaph Records. The band's third album - titled Hope, was released on 4 April 2011, and charted at number 27 in the UK album chart. Their fourth studio album, titled Start the Party, was released on 21 January 2013. The Blackout's final release was a five track EP entitled Wolves, with their farewell tour held in early 2015, finishing in their hometown of Merthyr Tydfil on Saturday 28 March 2015.
