This Magnificent Cake! is a stop motion animated short film released in 2018, directed by Marc James Roels and Emma de Swaef. [1] A coproduction of companies from Belgium, France and the Netherlands, the film centres on the history of Belgian colonialism in Africa. [2]

The film premiered in the Directors' Fortnight program at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. [3]

It won the André-Martin Prize for a French short film at the 2018 edition of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, [4] the Grand Prix at the 2018 Animafest Zagreb, [5] the Grand Prize at the 2018 Ottawa International Animation Festival, [6] and the National Grand Prix at the 2019 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. [7]

At the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, it received an honorable mention for the Best International Short Film award. [8]

It received a César Award nomination for Best Animated Short Film at the 45th César Awards in 2020. [9]

That film also won the Best Soundtrack Creation Award at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

Scale is a 2022 French animated short film directed by Joseph Pierce. The film debuted at the 2022 Critics Week at Cannes Film Festival and was produced by Melocoton Films (France), in co-production with Bridge Way Films (UK), Endorfilm and Ozù Productions (Belgium). Scale has received several nominations and awards, including a nomination for Best British Short Film at the 2022 British Independent Film Awards and winning the Golden Zagreb Award at the 2023 Zagreb World Festival of Animated Films. In August 2022, the film won the Oscar-qualifying award for Best Animation at HollyShorts Film Festival, and became eligible for the 96th Academy Awards. The film is also in the official selection for the 2024 César Awards.
