Northamptonshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Northamptonshire. Its limited overs team is called the Northants Steelbacks – a reference to the Northamptonshire Regiment which was formed in 1881. The name was supposedly a tribute to the soldiers' apparent indifference to the harsh discipline imposed by their officers. Founded in 1878, Northamptonshire (Northants) held minor status at first but was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship during the 1890s. In 1905, the club joined the County Championship and was elevated to first-class status, since when the team have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England.

Belinda Jane Clark is an Australian former cricketer and sports administrator. A right-handed batter, she served as the captain of the national women's team for eleven years and was a member of triumphant World Cup campaigns in 1997 and 2005. The first player to record a double century in the One Day International (ODI) format of the game, Clark has scored the most runs and captained the most matches of any Australian woman in ODIs. She has also achieved emphatic success domestically, winning five championships with New South Wales and two with Victoria while playing in the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL).

Ray Illingworth captained the English cricket team in Australia in 1970–71, playing as England in the 1970–71 Ashes series against the Australians and as the MCC in their other matches on the tour. They had a successful tour; however, it was an acrimonious one, as Illingworth's team often argued with their own management and the Australian umpires. When they arrived, the Australian selector Neil Harvey called them "rubbish", and others labelled them "Dad's Army" because of the seniority of the players, whose average age was over 30, but these experienced veterans beat the younger Australian team. They are the only touring team to play a full Test series in Australia without defeat.
1903 was the 14th season of County Championship cricket in England. Middlesex won their first title, winning eight and losing one of their 18 games. Yorkshire, the defending champions, finished third after losing five games. Yorkshire was the only team to defeat Middlesex – at Headingley in August, Yorkshire bowled Middlesex out for 79 in the first innings, and recorded a 230-run win.

The 1787 cricket season in England is noteworthy for the foundation of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) after the opening of Thomas Lord's first ground in the parish of Marylebone, north of London. MCC soon became the sport's governing body with the new ground as its feature venue. The first match known to have been played at Lord's was on Monday, 21 May, between the White Conduit Club and a Middlesex county team. The first match known to involve a team representing MCC was against White Conduit on Monday, 30 July. Including these two, reports and/or match scorecards have survived of numerous eleven-a-side matches played in 1787. Eleven are retrospectively, but unofficially, recognised as first-class.
Thomas Henry Clark was an English cricketer. He played for Surrey as an opening batsman. His career with them took in the period from 1952 to 1958 when they won an unequalled seven successive County Championship titles.

Manly Warringah District Cricket Club is a cricket club in based in Manly, Sydney, Australia who play in the Sydney Grade Cricket competition. Founded in 1878, Manly was a foundation club in the Sydney grade competition. Manly are relatively successful, having won the Club Championship 5 times since the year 2000. The current head coach is Tim Cruickshank and the first-grade captain Jay Lenton. Manly play their home games at Manly Oval. The club has produced a number of international cricketers, more recently Stephen O'Keefe, Stuart Clark and Michael Bevan, and all-time great Keith Miller. In 2019, Morne Morkel played a season at Manly in preparation for the Big Bash which he played for the Perth Scorchers and after he retired, he became Manly's Assistant Coach.. Current state representatives include Mickey Edwards, Jack Edwards, Stephen O'Keefe and Oliver Davies. Other first-class players include Ahillen Beadle and Jay Lenton. Media personalities including Cameron Merchant and Andrew Rochford currently also represent Manly-Warringah.
Thomas Geoffrey Reeves Clark is an English cricketer. He made his first-class debut on 23 September 2019, for Sussex in the 2019 County Championship. Before his first-class debut, Clark has played for the England under-19 cricket team. In October 2019, he was named in the England under-19 cricket team's squad for a 50-over tri-series in the Caribbean. In December 2019, he was named in England's squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his List A debut on 23 July 2021, for Sussex in the 2021 Royal London One-Day Cup.
