John Beaufort, 1st Marquess of Somerset and 1st Marquess of Dorset, later only 1st Earl of Somerset, was an English nobleman and politician. He was the first of the four illegitimate children of John of Gaunt (1340–1399) by his mistress Katherine Swynford, whom he later married in 1396.

Ashburton was a borough constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament at Westminster, for the Parliaments of 1295 and 1407, and regularly from 1640 until it was abolished for the 1868 general election. NGC 1400 is an elliptical galaxy in the constellation Eridanus. At a distance of 65 million light-years from Earth, it was discovered by John Herschel in 1786. It is a member of the NGC 1407 group, whose brightest member is NGC 1407. The NGC 1407 group is part of the Eridanus Cluster, a cluster of 200 galaxies.
