Ola Thoralf Alfsson (born 13 October 1957) is a Swedish blogger and former politician of the Sweden Democrats party who served as a member of the Riksdag.
On the Riksdag website,Alfsson listed his occupation as an automotive consultant before entering politics. [1] Alfsson was elected to the Riksdag in the 2010 Swedish general election for the Sweden Democrats party and represented the Östergötland County constituency. He was also involved in writing some of the party's manifesto ahead of the election. [2] In the Riksdag,he focused on matters related to energy policy,criminal policy,immigration and cultural issues. [3] He also supported a measure by the Swedish police to compile a public register of Romani people in Sweden. [4] Alfsson was a councilor for the Sweden Democrats in Kalmar. [5] [6]
In 2011,a local Social Democratic politician in Östergötland was convicted of defamation and fined after he posted a photoshopped picture of Alfsson in a Nazi uniform on social media. [7] [8]
In November 2018,Alfsson got into a heated dispute with members of the public on Facebook and wrote comments that were deemed inappropriate. [5] Alfsson initially defended the messages,arguing that he was reacting with the same language used by "trolls" who had left posts on the official Facebook page for the Sweden Democrats Kalmar County chapter. [9] However,the deputy leader of SD,Mattias Bäckström Johansson deemed Alfsson's posts as "unacceptable." Alfsson was subsequently expelled from the SD as a result of the Facebook dispute and a series of controversial blog posts he had made. [10] [11]
Since leaving politics,Alfsson has worked as an author and blogger. [12] [13]

As of 2022,it is the largest member of Sweden's right-wing governing bloc to which it provides confidence and supply,and is the second largest party in the Riksdag. Within the European Union,the party is a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists Party.

The Social Democrats' vote share fell to 28.3 percent,its lowest level of support since 1911.

In November 2013 Bieler became an elected member of Sweden Democrats party council. In the 2014 Swedish general election,Bieler was the party's number six national candidate for the Riksdag,and was elected a member of the Riksdag. Since April 2014 Bieler has also been the party's official political spokesman on gender and gay rights. On 11 February 2020,Bieler revealed that she was leaving the Riksdag in an interview with the Swedish tabloid Expressen. Shortly afterwards the podcast Lögnarnas Tempel revealed that she has also left the Sweden Democrats.

A government crisis began on 21 June 2021 in Sweden after the Riksdag ousted Prime Minister Stefan Löfven with a no-confidence vote. This was the first time in Swedish history a Prime Minister was ousted by a no-confidence vote. After winning the 2014 Swedish general election,the Löfven II Cabinet's government budget was rejected by the Riksdag,causing a government crisis that lasted for nearly a month. The 2021 government crisis was the second government crisis suffered by a Löfven cabinet. The vote was called on 17 June 2021 by the Sweden Democrats after the Swedish Left Party withdrew support for Löfven over rent control reform,which is an important issue for many voters.
Prime Minister Stefan Löfven tendered his resignation on 10 November 2021,leaving his government in place as a caretaker cabinet until a new Prime Minister is elected by the Riksdag. Government formation talks commenced the following day with Magdalena Andersson,the newly-elected head of the Social Democratic party offering to lead a government. She was formally nominated to form a government by the Speaker of the Riksdag,Andreas Norlén later the same day. It was the third government formation process since the 2018 general election,the first taking a record 144 days before the formation of Löfven's second cabinet.
