Hasely Thorne Holder (born April 4, 1986 in Port of Spain) is a Trinidadian footballer.

Port of Spain, officially the City of Port of Spain, is the capital city of Trinidad and Tobago and the country's second-largest city after San Fernando and the third largest municipality after Chaguanas and San Fernando. Career

College and amateur

Holder began his career in Trinidad and Tobago with Queen's Royal College Intercol. While with QRC he helped them win the North Zone Intercol title in 2003. In 2004, he joined San Juan Jabloteh and played with their Under-20 side and was recognized as the league's top keeper.

In 2007, he left the Island to play college soccer for the University of Maryland. Holder remained at Maryland for one season before transferring to Adelphi University in 2008. While with Adelphi Holder appeared in 47 matches and recorded 19 shutouts. [1] Holder also played for USL Premier Development League club Long Island Rough Riders during both their 2008 [2] and 2009 [3] seasons.

The Long Island Rough Riders is an American soccer team based in South Huntington, New York, United States. Founded in 1994, the team plays in USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid.

Professional

During the 2011 Major League Soccer preseason Holder went on trial with Philadelphia Union. He made a favorable impression and on March 1, 2011 was signed by the club. During the season he was released, signed by F.C. New York of the third division USL Pro league, and then re-signed by Philadelphia. On November 23, 2011, Holder was waived by Philadelphia. [4]

Major League Soccer (MLS) is a men's professional soccer league sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation which represents the sport's highest level in the United States. The league comprises 24 teams—21 in the U.S. and 3 in Canada and constitutes one of the major professional sports leagues in both countries. The regular season runs from March to October, with each team playing 34 games; the team with the best record is awarded the Supporters' Shield. Fourteen teams compete in the postseason MLS Cup Playoffs through October and November, culminating in the championship game, the MLS Cup. MLS teams also play in domestic competitions against teams from other divisions in the U.S. Open Cup and in the Canadian Championship. MLS teams also compete against continental rivals in the CONCACAF Champions League. The league plans to expand to 28 teams with the additions of Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC in 2020, Austin FC in 2021, and a St. Louis franchise in 2022, with further plans to expand to 30 teams at a later date.

The Philadelphia Union is an American professional soccer team based in Chester, Pennsylvania. The Union competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member club of the league's Eastern Conference. The club began play in 2010 as an expansion team of the league. The club plays their home matches at Talen Energy Stadium, a soccer-specific stadium located in Chester on the banks of the Delaware River. Jim Curtin is the Union's head coach.

F.C. New York defunct soccer team in the United States

F.C. New York was an American professional soccer team based first in Queens, New York City, and then Long Island, New York. The team played two seasons, starting in 2011 in the National Division of the USL Professional Division, the third tier of the American Soccer Pyramid and then moving to the National Premier Soccer League for 2012. The club did not finish its 2012 schedule before folding.
