Throw Down is the debut studio album by Canadian country music artist Tim Hicks. It was released on August 27, 2013 via RGK Entertainment Group/Open Road Recordings.It debuted at number 16 on the Billboard Canadian Albums Chart for the week of September 14, 2013.
Country music, also known as country and western, and hillbilly music, is a genre of popular music that originated in the southern United States in the early 1920s. It takes its roots from genres such as folk music and blues.
Tim Hicks is a Canadian country music singer-songwriter from Niagara Falls, Ontario. In 2012, Hicks opened for Dallas Smith and Chad Brownlee on the Boys of Fall tour. In 2014 Hicks opened for Dierks Bentley during some of the Riser Tour. His debut single, "Get By", was released in December 2012 by RGK Entertainment Group. Hicks co-wrote the song with Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line, Neil Sanderson of Three Days Grace, Casey Marshall and Shawn Hamm. In February 2013, the song debuted on the Canadian Hot 100.
Open Road Recordings, a division of RGK Entertainment Group Ltd., is a Canadian country music record label established by Ron Kitchener in 2003 and distributed through Universal Music Canada.
Throw Down was nominated for Country Album of the Year at the 2014 Juno Awards.
The Juno Award for "Country Recording of the Year" has been awarded since 1970, as recognition each year for the best country music artist in Canada. A number of previous award categories have been combined under this name, including "Best Country Male Artist", "Best Country Female Artist" and "Country Group or Duo of the Year".
The Juno Awards of 2014 honoured Canadian music industry achievements in the latter part of 2012 and in most of 2013. The awards were presented in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada during the weekend of 29–30 March 2014. The main ceremony took place at the MTS Centre and was televised on CTV.
