Tielt-Antwerp-Tielt was a men's cycling race organised for the last time in 1968. [1] The race was run between Tielt (West Flanders) and Antwerp. In 1945, a shortened version of 144 km was run with start place Antwerp and finish place Tielt. In 1958, Antwerp was both start and finish place.

The competition's roll of honor includes the successes of Briek Schotte and Rik Van Looy. [2]

With 379 road victories he's second to Merckx only. He is ninth on the all-time list of Grand Tour stage winners with thirty-seven victories.

The Scheldeprijs is a cycling race in Flanders and the Netherlands which starts in Terneuzen, crosses the Scheldt River, and finishes in Schoten. Until 2018 it was held entirely in Belgium. The event, ranked as a 1.HC race on the UCI Europe Tour, features mostly sprinters on its roll of honour, as it is held on all-flat roads over roughly 200 kilometres.

The 2001 Giro d'Italia was the 84th edition of the Giro. It began with a 7 km (4 mi) prologue that went from Montesilvano to Pescara. The race came to a close on June 10 with a mass-start stage that ended in the Italian city of Milan. Twenty teams entered the race that was won by the Italian Gilberto Simoni of the Lampre–Daikin team. Second and third were the Spanish riders Abraham Olano and Unai Osa.

The X²O Badkamers Trophy is a Belgian cyclo-cross racing series sponsored by X²O Badkamers which previously was known as the DVV Trophy (2017-2019), BPost Bank Trophy (2012-2016) and until 2011–2012 as the Gazet van Antwerpen Trofee. Many races are held in the province of Antwerp with others being held across Belgium. The first ever event was held on 1 November 1987 in Putte-Peulis. It is part of the grand slam of cyclo-cross.

Gerrit Schulte was a Dutch professional track bicycle racer. Between 1940 and 1960 he won 19 six-day races out of 73 starts and was one of the dominant Six days racers of his time. Schulte was as well successful in track pursuit, becoming national champion ten times, European champion twice and world champion once, in 1948, when he beat Fausto Coppi in the final. He was also successful as a road race cyclists, becoming national champion three times and winning a stage in the 1938 Tour de France. Since 1955, the Gerrit Schulte Trophy has been awarded by the national federation to the best professional rider in the Netherlands.

Andreas Frans Theodoor Detiège was a Belgian politician for the social democratic Belgian Socialist Party, a Federal Representative (1947–1974) and Mayor of Antwerp (1976), after he had been Antwerp's Alderman responsible for Social Affairs (1947–1976) in the municipal government of mayor Lode Craeybeckx.

The 2017 Tour of Flanders was the 101st edition of the Tour of Flanders, a one-day cycling classic, that took place on 2 April 2017. It was the second monument race of the 2017 cycling season and the thirteenth event of the 2017 UCI World Tour. The race marked the pinnacle of the Flemish Cycling Week.
