Tamara "Tigerlily" Hill is a Caymanian fashion designer best known in America as a celebrity wardrobe stylist and TV personality. [1] [2] She is the founder of the fashion brand, Crown Atelier. She has also founded, swimwear brand, Nothing But Net Body. [3]

In 2008, Glam God with Vivica A. Fox, a fashion competition reality series aired on VH1 between August and October in which she was highlighted as one of the two ending finalists in this eight-part series (in the series, twelve contestants competed to become the next "Glam God"; Glam God being a stylist who gets their clients on the best dressed list).

She is currently based in Los Angeles. [4]

Early life and education

Born to a Jamaican mother and a British father, she divides her time between London and the Cayman Islands. [4] She received her early education from Cayman Islands High School (now known as John Gray). [5]

Since her childhood, Hill has been exposed to different cultures due to frequent traveling. Due to her parents' profession, the family settled in the state of Iowa where both her brother Nikolai and herself studied at the University of Iowa. [6] She completed her bachelor's degree in apparel manufacturing at the Richmond, The American International University in London while studying briefly at Central Saint Martins. They returned to live full-time in the Cayman Islands. [6]

Career

Hill started her career in the financial industry and worked for Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. [6] [5] Because of her interest in fashion, she opened a small womenswear boutique. [6]

With her American television debut on Glam God with Vivica A. Fox . [7] [8] as celebrity wardrobe stylist, she also began her clothing line, Crown Atelier officially and immediately was well sought out when Keira Knightley, Hilary Duff, Taryn Manning, Carla Gugino, Maria Menounos, Catt Sadler, Haley Bennett were all photographed in her blouses. [9] Since the VH1 series, she has worked on numerous award shows, music videos and films as a wardrobe stylist and costume designer. [5]

After her successful stint in the American television show, she launched her own signature line named Crown Atelier in 2005. [6] [5]

She has also co-founded, swimwear brand, Nothing But Net Body. [3]

In June 2012, she won the Emerging Designer Award at Caribbean Fashion Week. [6]

The Cayman National Cultural Foundation awarded her the Star for Creativity in the Arts Gold on February 25, 2016. [10] The award is given to individuals who have attained the highest level of merit in the artistic discipline, contributed to arts, culture, and heritage in the Cayman Islands. [11]

Batabano is the name of the Caribbean Carnival held in the Cayman Islands. The festival takes place annually during the first week of May in George Town. Batabano is a time for people of all different descents to gather with a common interest and celebrate community spirit. The Cayman Islands are home to over 100 different nationalities, all brought together and embraced by the festival. It is a cultural celebration filled with music, dance, and elaborate costumes that reflect the landscapes, heritage, and culture. Miss Teen USA 2010

Miss Teen USA 2010, the 28th edition of the Miss Teen USA pageant, was held at the Imperial Ballroom of the Atlantis Paradise Island, in The Bahamas on July 24, 2010. Stormi Henley, Miss Teen USA 2009, from Tennessee, crowned her successor, Maryland's Kamie Crawford, as Miss Teen USA 2010. The 50 states and the District of Columbia competed for the prestigious title and the pageant was webcast live on Ustream. The 2nd annual Miss Teen Fantasy Camp was held along the pageant.
