Tiit Terik (born 15 June 1979; Tallinn) is an Estonian politician. He is the current debuty mayor of Tallinn. Deputy Mayor coordinates Tallinn City Property Department, Tallinn Municipal Police Department and manages issues within their areas of administration, as well as the Sports Division at Tallinn Culture and Sports Department. A member of the Estonian Centre Party (Estonian: Eesti Keskerakond). He was a Minister of Culture from 2021 to 2022, Vice-Chairman of the Tallinn City Council from 2022 to 2023, Chairman of the Tallinn City Council from 2019 to 2021, and chairman of the board of The Association of Estonian Cities and Municipalities. [1] Terik is the member of the European Committee of the Regions [2] and vice-president of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR). [3]
He has been member of the Estonian Parliament (2016-2019), City District Governor in Nõmme District Administration (2013-2016) and City District Governor in Pirita District Administration (2007-2013). [4]
Terik studied social work at the Tallinn Pedagogical College. He earned a master's degree in government and administration from Tallinn University in 2015. In 2018 he took the Battalion Staff Officer course at the Estonian Military Academy. He had previously also taken National Defense courses.
Terik is also in the military, where he reached the rank of Second Lieutenant. He earned a Defence League Medal of Merits, III class.
He is a member of the Harju District of the Defence League since 2010. He was then elected multiple times to the Tallinn City Council (2009; 2013; 2017). [5] He was also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (2018-2019). [6]
Politics in Estonia takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic, whereby the Prime Minister of Estonia is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. Legislative power is vested in the Estonian parliament. Executive power is exercised by the government, which is led by the prime minister. The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature. Estonia is a member of the United Nations, the European Union, and NATO.
Edgar Savisaar was an Estonian politician, one of the founding members of Popular Front of Estonia and the Centre Party. He served as the acting Prime Minister of Estonia, Minister of the Interior, Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications, and twice mayor of Tallinn.
Lambertus Jacobus Jozef van Nistelrooij is a Dutch politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2004 till 2019. He is a member of the Christian Democratic Appeal, part of the European People's Party.
Parliamentary elections were held in Estonia on 7 March 1999. The newly elected 101 members of the 9th Riigikogu assembled at Toompea Castle in Tallinn within ten days of the election. The elections proved disastrous for the ruling Estonian Coalition Party, which won only seven seats together with two of its smaller allies. Following the elections, a coalition government was formed by Mart Laar of the Pro Patria Union, including the Reform Party and the Moderates. It remained in office until Laar resigned in December 2001, after the Reform Party had left the same governing coalition in Tallinn municipality, making opposition leader Edgar Savisaar new Mayor of Tallinn. The Reform Party and the Estonian Centre Party then formed a coalition government that lasted until the 2003 elections.
Andrus Ansip is an Estonian politician, a member of the European Parliament, the former European Commissioner for Digital Single Market and Vice President of the European Commission, in office from 2014 until 2019. Previously, he was Prime Minister of Estonia from 2005 to 2014 and chairman of the liberal Estonian Reform Party from 2004 to 2014.

Katrin Saks is an Estonian politician and journalist. From 1999 to 2002, she was Minister of Population Affairs in the cabinet of Mart Laar. She was the vice-chairwoman of the Social Democratic Party from 2005 to 2010. In October 2006 she became Member of the European Parliament, replacing Toomas Hendrik Ilves, who had been elected President of Estonia. She lost her seat in the 2009 European election, but shortly regained it, when on 7 April 2014 she replaced Ivari Padar who became Estonian Minister for Agriculture, until in July she was succeeded by Marju Lauristin following the 2014 European election. As of 2011, she is a director of Tallinn University Baltic Film and Media School.

Electoral district no. 3 is one of the 12 multi-member electoral districts of the Riigikogu, the national legislature of Estonia. The electoral district was established in 1995 following the re-organisation of the electoral districts in Tallinn. It is conterminous with the districts of Mustamäe and Nõmme in Tallinn. The district currently elects eight of the 101 members of the Riigikogu using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 parliamentary election it had 71,882 registered electors.
