Tim Anderson is an American cook and writer who was named the winner of 2011's MasterChef competition broadcast on BBC One. [1] [2]
Anderson was born in Madison, Wisconsin and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. He moved to Los Angeles in 2002, where he studied Japanese food history at Occidental College. After graduating in 2006, he moved to Kitakyushu, Japan, [3] to further his interest in Japanese cuisine. He moved to London with his British wife in 2008 and started his career as a craft beer bar manager. He opened his first restaurant, Nanban Brixton in 2015. [4] His second restaurant, Nanban Central, opened in 2019. [5] He left both businesses in 2021. He has published several books on Japanese cuisine and is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s culinary panel show, The Kitchen Cabinet.

A soy egg is a type of egg in Chinese cuisine, Japanese cuisine, and Mauritian cuisine which is boiled, peeled, and then cooked in a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, water, and other optional herbs and spices. Chinese chicken salad is a salad including chopped chicken and Chinese culinary ingredients that is common in parts of the United States. Mapo tofu is a popular Chinese dish from Sichuan province. It consists of tofu set in a spicy sauce, typically a thin, oily, and bright red suspension, based on douban, and douchi, along with minced meat, traditionally beef. Variations exist with other ingredients such as water chestnuts, onions, other vegetables, or wood ear fungus. One account indicates that the dish existed as early as 1254, in a suburb of Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan. Other accounts indicate it originated at a Chengdu restaurant in the 1860s.
Michael Solomonov is an Israeli chef known for his restaurants in Center City, Philadelphia. His first restaurant Zahav, founded in 2008, has received national recognition including the James Beard Foundation "Outstanding Restaurant" in 2019. Solomonov was also awarded Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic in 2011, Cookbook of the Year in 2016, and Outstanding Chef in 2017 from the James Beard Foundation. In 2021, The New York Times named his restaurant Laser Wolf as one of "the 50 places in America we're most excited about right now."
