Tim Batt (born 19 August 1987 [1] ) is a New Zealand-based comedian and podcaster. He co-hosts The Worst Idea of All Time podcast with fellow NZ comedian Guy Montgomery and was nominated for a Billy T Award in 2014 and 2015.
Batt grew up in Christchurch, New Zealand and later spent time in Wellington, and then Auckland. Before comedy, he worked in radio and call centers. [2] Batt attended Cobham Intermediate School, and was a contemporary of acclaimed singer and UNICEF ambassador Hayley Westenra, the two appearing together in school productions.
Batt's first appearance on TV was in 2014, on the TVNZ U show U LATE with future collaborator Guy Montgomery, where he appeared as a "pathetic but upbeat" public bathroom reviewer. [3] He has also performed standup comedy and worked in commercial broadcasting on the networks MediaWorks and NZME. [4]
After the channel shut down, the two decided to start a small project together, which turned into the podcast The Worst Idea of All Time, a podcast where every season the duo rewatch and review the same film weekly for a year. As of 2024, the show is New Zealand's most successful comedy podcast at over 18 million downloads. [4] Based on the success of the podcast, Batt launched a podcast network, Little Empire Network. The network features podcasts by fellow comedians such as Rose Matafeo and Nic Sampson. [3]
Batt hosted TVNZ Duke chat show Banter in 2017. In 2019, he hosted a chat/sketch show hybrid with cohost Luke Rowell called Space Couch. [5] In 2020, Montgomery and Batt were tapped to film a pilot for a TV show for YouTube Red. The pilot involved the two attempting to take a method approach to film reviewing by watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows while living in an abandoned subway station in New York City and eating nothing but pizza. [6] The show was not greenlit for a series.
Starting in 2022, Tim Batt cohosted a comedy/conspiracy theory podcast for Radio New Zealand with R.M.S. Titanic enthusiast Carlo Richie about Titanic conspiracy theories, specifically the Olympic exchange theory, called Did Titanic Sink?. In February 2022, Batt was appointed Creator Network Development Director for New Zealand for Swedish podcasting company Acast. [4] In 2024, Did Titanic Sink? published a second season featuring a metanarrative involving the search for the mythical Canterbury Panther. [7]
Leigh Hart is a New Zealand comedian, radio announcer and performance artist who is also known as "That Guy". He has made various appearances on New Zealand television, including SportsCafe and his own show, Moon TV.
Leslie Matthew Heath is a New Zealand actor, producer, radio host, sports commentator, columnist and musician. He played Danny Parker on Back Of The Y Masterpiece Television and Dick Johansonson in the feature film The Devil Dared Me To. He was guitarist and singer for the 2000s band Deja Voodoo. He has worked on shows for MTV2 in the UK and appeared on Eating Media Lunch. Heath previously hosted the Matt and Jerry Breakfast Show with Jeremy Wells on Radio Hauraki. He has been a columnist for The New Zealand Herald since June 2014 and provides cricket commentary for The Alternative Commentary Collective. Heath runs the motion graphics company Vinewood Animation Studios with Philip Brough. In 2018, he co-hosted The Moment with Mike Lane on TVNZ Duke throughout the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Heath is the author of a cookbook titled "The Best of Leslie's Kitchen".
Guy Malachi Jones Williams is a New Zealand comedian and television personality. Williams was a co-host on the satirical news and entertainment television programme Jono and Ben until the show's end in 2018. In 2019, he began hosting New Zealand Today, a show detailing the lives and events of New Zealand towns and the people who live in them.
David Geoffrey Earl is a British actor and comedian, best known for his comedy character Brian Gittins. He has featured in several projects associated with Ricky Gervais, most notably as Kevin "Kev" Twine in the comedy-drama Derek, and in smaller roles in Extras, After Life and the film Cemetery Junction. Earl also works frequently with comic Joe Wilkinson. Together they co-wrote and starred in the sitcom Rovers, and the comedy series The Cockfields. They also host three podcasts called Gossipmongers, Chatabix and You Don't Know What You're Doing. He also co-wrote and starred in the feature film Brian and Charles where he plays an isolated inventor who builds a robot.
Rose Matafeo is a New Zealand comedian, actress and TV presenter. She was a writer and performer on the New Zealand late-night comedy sketch show Funny Girls. In 2018, she won the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for her show Horndog.

He is known for his panel game show Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont-Spelling Bee, which he began as a web series before becoming a TV series, for +HR=E in New Zealand, and later, adapted to a slightly higher budget Australian version for the ABC. He won the Fred Award in 2023.
The Worst Idea of All Time is a podcast hosted by New Zealand comedians Tim Batt and Guy Montgomery where they watch and review the same film every week for a year. In each season, the film chosen is one neither of the hosts have seen before and is generally considered to be a bad film.

Taskmaster New Zealand is a New Zealand comedy panel game show, first broadcast in 2020 on TVNZ 2. The format for the show was created by British comedian Alex Horne during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2010 and was subsequently developed into a successful UK television show in 2015.

Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont-Spelling Bee is a New Zealand television comedy panel show on Three, created and presented by Guy Montgomery and co-hosted by Sanjay Patel. The show is loosely based on a spelling bee: each episode, four comedians participate in a series of rounds, where the goal is almost always to spell words or names in rounds that are "designed to be infuriating to take part in and entertaining to watch". The winner of each episode competes again the following week, and the loser of each episode must wear a dunce cap in the Dunce's Corner.

He became well known in New Zealand from 2017 for his short form comedy videos released on social media. As a screenwriter and performer he has contributed to many local television shows, including Wellington Paranormal, and feature films Pork Pie and Loop Track. With Madeline Sami he co-wrote Super City, which won the SWANZ Scriptwriters Best Comedy Script Award in 2011.
