Violent Soho are an Australian alternative rock band that was formed in 2004 in the Brisbane suburb of Mansfield, Queensland. The band consists of Luke Boerdam, James Tidswell, Luke Henery and Michael Richards. Their sound has been compared to that of 1980s and 1990s alternative rock bands such as the Pixies, Mudhoney and Nirvana. The band's third studio album, Hungry Ghost, was certified Gold in Australia in September 2014. Their fourth album, Waco, debuted at number 1 on the Australian iTunes and ARIA charts in 2016. The band's fifth album, Everything Is A-OK, was released on 3 April 2020.
The Novocaines were a rock band based in Perth, Western Australia Briefly named The Howlin' Novocaines in 2007. They released their first two studio EPs, Ragdoll (2009) and Courtesy Eventually (2010), which were played by Australian radio station Triple J. They released their debut LP, Idle Time, in 2011.

The Management roster included Cut Off Your Hands (NZ), Violent Soho, Jack Ladder, Kid Sam, Ghoul and producer Scott Horscroft. Speak and Spell Music was conceived and established in 2004 and closed in April 2011.

The album was produced by Violent Soho frontman Luke Boerdam. Australian radio station Triple J picked Dumb Days as their feature album of the week in September 2017. While the band didn't chart in the Hottest 100 of 2017, the first three singles charted in the Hottest 200 with Dumb Days, Fresh and Cinderella Dracula coming in at #185, #179 and #150 respectively.

The J Award of 2010 is the sixth annual J Awards, established by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's youth-focused radio station Triple J. The announcement comes at the culmination of Ausmusic Month (November). For the third year, three awards were presented; Australian Album of the Year, Australian Music Video of the Year and Unearthed Artist of the Year. The announcement occurred on 30 November 2010.
