Tinglev Parish (Danish : Tinglev Sogn) is a parish in the Diocese of Haderslev in Aabenraa Municipality, Denmark.
South Jutland County is a former county on the south-central portion of the Jutland Peninsula in southern Denmark.
Aabenraa Municipality is a kommune in the Region of Southern Denmark in southwestern Denmark. The municipality has an area of 940.7 km2 and a total population of 59,002 (2023). Its largest town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Aabenraa. The mayor of the municipality is Jan Riber Jakobsen, representing the Conservative People's Party.

The Schleswig plebiscites were two plebiscites, organized according to section XII, articles 100 to 115 of the Treaty of Versailles of 28 June 1919, in order to determine the future border between Denmark and Germany through the former Duchy of Schleswig. Tønder County is a former province in Denmark, located the south-western part of Southern Jutland. Tønder County was established in 1920 following the reunification of Denmark with South Jutland following the Schleswig Plebiscites. It was dissolved in 1970 when the bulk of the county merged with three other counties to form South Jutland County. Tønder County corresponded geographically to the northern part of the former Prussian Kreis Tondern except for Hviding Herred, which had been part of Kreis Hadersleben. Kreis Tondern had in turn been established in 1867 in order to simplify the intricate administrative structures of the Duchy of Schleswig, and was formed from regions belonging to Ribe County and Løgumkloster County.

Sønderborg is a Danish town in the Region of Southern Denmark. It is the main town and the administrative seat of Sønderborg Municipality (Kommune). The town has a population of 28,137, in a municipality of 74,380. In recent times, Sønderborg is a center for trade, tourism, industry, and education in the region of Southern Denmark. The town is the headquarters for several industrial companies. Sønderburg joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities in 2016.
Approximately 15,000 people in Denmark belong to an autochthonous ethnic German minority traditionally referred to as hjemmetyskere meaning "domestic Germans" in Danish, and as Nordschleswiger in German. This minority of Germans hold Danish citizenship and self-identify as ethnic Germans. They generally speak Low Saxon alongside South Jutlandic dialect of Danish as their home languages. Furthermore, there are also several thousand German immigrants residing in Denmark with no historical connection to this group.
An efterskole is a unique type of Danish voluntary independent residential school for young people between the age of 14 to 18. At an efterskole, students can choose to spend one, two or three years finishing their primary education, and currently some 28,500 students attend one of approximately 260 such schools throughout Denmark. The schools are open to students from abroad.
Anna Christiane Lauterup Ludvigsen (1794–1884) was a Danish poet. Frequently reminded of how she had been blessed in her cradle by the Swiss priest and poet Johann Kaspar Lavater, she felt it was her vocation to write poetry. As she spent most of her life in Southern Jutland, from the 1830s her poetry gained significance as a result of the national uprising among Danish speakers in the area. In 1852, she published the two-volume Markblomster af Anna. After the region came under German rule in 1864, her poetry about the countryside and people's lives became even more popular as the spirit of Danishness emerged.
