The Tiptree Residents Association was a residents' association in Tiptree, Essex, England.
Residents' associations are organisations formed by groups of people from a specific geographic community who come together to address issues within their local area and act as a voice for their local community. In one form or another they have existed since the mid nineteenth century. In many cases they were founded within newer communities, for example as new settlements were built in British Commonwealth countries, and in the UK many residents' associations were formed by the newcomer-residents of the housing estates that proliferated between the World Wars.
Tiptree is a village and civil parish in the English county of Essex, situated 10 miles (16 km) south-west of Colchester and around 50 miles (80 km) north-east of London. Surrounding villages include Messing, Tolleshunt Knights, Tolleshunt Major, Layer Marney, Inworth, Birch, Great Braxted, Great Totham and Little Totham.

Three councillors representing the Residents Association were elected onto Colchester Borough Council in 1973 when the new council was created. [1] The Residents Association formally stood candidates for elections until the 1990s, when J. Webb was the last RA councillor to stand for election. They have not stood candidates since 2001.

It is active in the London Borough of Havering and forms a 17-councillor group on Havering London Borough Council. At the 2014 London borough council elections they were the second largest party on Havering Council, largest elected residents group in London, and the fourth largest political party represented on all London borough councils. Not all residents groups in Havering are affiliated to the HRA, usually indicating this by standing as 'independent resident' candidates. In 2014 eight members of the Havering Residents Association group split off to form the East Havering Residents Group.
