Tisa A. Mason (born February 8,1961) is an American educator and the current president of Fort Hays State University. Prior to her presidency at Fort Hays State,Mason served as Valley City State University's president from December 15,2014 to December 15,2017. [2] Mason served as Fort Hays State's vice president of student affairs July 2008 to December 2014. [3]
Born in Palmer,Massachusetts,Mason graduated from Classical High School in 1979 and went on to receive her bachelor's of arts with Omicron Delta Kappa honors from Transylvania University in 1983 majoring in sociology/anthropology. In 1984,Mason completed her master's degree at Eastern Illinois University,as well as her education doctorate from the College of William and Mary in 1992. [4]
After graduating from Transylvania University,Mason served as the assistant dean of students at Hanover College,a position she held from 1984 to 1986. [5] From 1986 to 1994,Mason was served as the student life director and as an assistant professor at Christopher Newport University. [6] Following an eight-year stint at CNU,Mason served as the executive director for Sigma Kappa,the national headquarters of her sorority from college. [7] On July 1,2004,Mason assumed the position as the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater's dean of student life,a position she held until June 2008. [8] On July 1,2008,Mason became the student affairs vice president at Fort Hays State University,a position she would hold for six years. [9]
On October 30,2014,Mason was named Valley City State University's 13th president. [10] While at VCSU,Mason was able to increase the enrollment numbers –setting a school record [11] –and brought in more revenue into the budget. [12] Mason left VCSU on December 15,2017 as she was named the president of Fort Hays State University. [13]

The Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science (KAMS) is a two-year,residential,early-entrance-to-college program for U.S. high school juniors and seniors who are academically talented in the areas of mathematics and science. Located on the Fort Hays State University campus in Hays,Kansas,students concurrently complete their last two years of high school while earning over 60 college credits.
The Fort Hays State Tigers football program represents Fort Hays State University in college football. They participate in Division II sports within the NCAA in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). The team plays their home games in Lewis Field Stadium,located on the Fort Hays State University campus in Hays,Kansas.

Mirta Maria Martin,Ph.D.,is an American educator who was the current president of Fairmont State University. Most recently,Martin served as the president of Fort Hays State University. Prior to Fort Hays State,Martin served as the Dean of Virginia State University's Reginald F. Lewis School of Business,a position she held from August 1,2009 until June 30,2014.
Edward H. Hammond is an American educator and former president of Fort Hays State University. Prior to his position at Fort Hays State,Hammond served in student affairs at various institutions including Seton Hall University and the University of Louisville. Hammond completed just two months shy of 28 years,making him the longest serving president at Fort Hays State and leader in the Kansas Board of Regents schools.
John Andrew Tompkins is an American educator in Kansas. Prior to his previous post at Wichita State University,he served as interim president at Fort Hays State,as well as the president of the Kansas Board of Regents from 2010 to 2015. Tompkins was a professor and dean at Pittsburg State University two different times,and served as a superintendent of three different Kansas school districts. Tompkins is also the former Commissioner of the Kansas State Department of Education,serving from June 1,1996 to June 30,2005.
Mark A. Johnson is an American men's basketball coach,currently coaching at Fort Hays State University. Prior to his position,Johnson served as the assistant coach for the program from 1996 to 2001,as well as interim head coach leading up to the 1997–98 season. Prior to becoming an assistant coach at Fort Hays State,Johnson was an assistant at Phillips University,Labette Community College,and served as a graduate assistant for Pittsburg State University. Mark has 3 children.
Bazoline Estelle Usher was an American educator known for her work in the Atlanta Public Schools. As director of education for African-American children in the district prior to integration,she was the first African American to have an office at Atlanta City Hall. She founded the first Girl Scout troop for African-American girls in Atlanta in 1943. Her career as an educator lasted over 50 years,over 40 of which were in the Atlanta schools. A school in Atlanta is named for her,and in 2014 she was posthumously named a Georgia Woman of Achievement.
Hendratta Ali is a geoscientist who does work in hydrology,aqueous geochemistry,exploration geology and equity geoscience. Her home institution is the Department of Geosciences at Fort Hays State University. She was awarded the 2021 Geological Society of America Randolph Bromery award and Fort Hays State University President’s Distinguished Scholar Award. Ali is a native of Cameroon.
