Tolu Olukayode Odugbemi NNOM,OON (born 30 January 1945) is a Nigerian professor of Medical Microbiology,educational administrator and former vice chancellor of the University of Lagos,Nigeria. [1] [2] He was the 9th vice chancellor of the University of Lagos. [3] [4] [5]
He had his elementary education at Emmanuel Primary School,Ado-Ekiti and St Stephen’s Primary school in Ekiti State . He attended Christ's School Ado Ekiti (1958–1964) for his secondary education. [6] He had his Bachelor of science (B.Sc) degree in Microbiology and MB;BS degree from the University of Lagos. [7] [8] He obtained his Doctorate degree (Ph.D) from the University of Sheffield School of Medicine in 1978 and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 1982. [9]
He is also a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP (Lab.Med.)),Fellow National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCPath) and Fellow Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath),U.K
He started his academic career in College of Medicine,University of Lagos and rose through the ranks to be appointed Professor of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology in 1983. He was also Honorary Consultant Medical Microbiologist to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). At various times he was Honorary Lecturer,University of Sheffield (1976–1978),Guest Researcher,U.S Centers for Disease Control (CDC) (1982–1983) and Foundation Professor and Head of Medical Microbiology,University of Ilorin (1983–1985). He also served as the Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Colleges of Medicine (1998–2000). He also served was the President and Chairman Board of the National Postgraduate Medical College,Nigeria. [10] [11] and Vice-Chancellor,Ondo State University of Science and Technology (2010–2015)
The University of Lagos,popularly known as UNILAG,is a public research university located in Lagos,Nigeria and was founded in 1962. UNILAG is one of the first generation universities in Nigeria and is ranked among the top universities in the world in major education publications. The university presently has three campuses in the mainland of Lagos. Whereas two of its campuses are located at Yaba,it's college of medicine is located at Idi-Araba,Surulere. The university caters for over 35,000 students. The University was established during the Administration of Late Lateef Kayode Jakande. The university offers diploma,degree and post graduate programmes,including an MBA programme. LASU was ranked among the top 600 universities in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2020. On 23 June,2021,LASU emerged as the best young university in Nigeria having been below the age of 50 years to be added. Times Higher Education ranked the Lagos State University as the second best university in Nigeria on the 2 September 2020,and was the only state university included in the rankings for 2022. The university has attracted international funding,including for the establishment of a World Bank Group Africa Centre for Excellence on Science,Technology,Engineering,and Mathematics.
Ekiti State University Ado Ekiti is a state government owned and operated Nigerian university,located in Ado Ekiti,Ekiti State,Nigeria. It was established as Obafemi Awolowo University,Ado-Ekiti on 30 March 1982 by the administration of Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin,the first civilian governor of Ondo State. The university is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Jacob Festus Adeniyi Ajayi,commonly known as J. F. Ade Ajayi,was a Nigerian historian and a member of the Ibadan school,a group of scholars interested in introducing African perspectives to African history and focusing on the internal historical forces that shaped African lives. Ekundayo Adeyinka Adeyemi was a Nigerian architect and academic who was a distinguished professor of architecture at Covenant University,Ota. In 1975,Adeyemi attained professorship at Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria a promotion that made him the first professor of architecture in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. He was acting vice chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure from December 1999 to September 2001.

Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola OON(born 1958) is a Nigerian professor of medical microbiology,and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos. She specializes in disease control,particularly HIV/AIDS. Ogunsola was provost of College of Medicine,University of Lagos and is reputed as being the first woman to occupy the position. She was also the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the institution between 2017 and 2021. She was acting vice chancellor of the University of Lagos for a short period in 2020 when the University was plunged into crisis as a result of the removal of the Vice Chancellor by the University Council.
College of Medicine,University of Lagos (CMUL) also known as Medilag is the medical school affiliated with the University of Lagos. It is located in Idi-Araba,Lagos beside its sister institution,the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. The college has a total staff of 1,850 in 32 departments.
