Tom Facey (born March 30,1954) is an American politician from Missoula,Montana. A Democrat,he served in the Montana House of Representatives and the Montana Senate. [1] As of 2016 Facey has been the primary sponsor of 47 bills. [2]
Facey served as a Minority Whip in the Senate during the 2015–2018 session. [3]
In 2011,Facey was the primary sponsor of SB 276 intended to "generally revise deviate sexual conduct laws." [4] More specifically,the bill seeks to bring Montana in line with the Supreme Court ruling that "the law that criminalizes homosexual acts is unconstitutional." [5] The bill was tabled in a House committee.
In response to court action in a number of states,the United States federal government and a number of state legislatures passed or attempted to pass legislation either prohibiting or allowing same-sex marriage or other types of same-sex unions.

Sheehy's victory gave Republicans control of both of Montana's Senate seats for the first time since 1911. Primary elections took place on June 4,2024. Although Tester outperformed Kamala Harris in the concurrent presidential election by 12.8 points,which was the strongest overperformance of any Democratic Senate candidate,it was still not enough to win.
