Tom Glocer (born October 8, 1959) is an American business executive and the former CEO of Thomson Reuters and Reuters.

Biography

He is a co-founder and executive chairman of BlueVoyant and Capitolis, cyber defense and fintech start-ups, respectively. [1] [2] He is also a partner in Communitas Capital, an early stage venture fund focusing on investments in financial technology and marketplaces, and the Chairman of ISTARI, a new type of cyber risk management company. [3] [4]

Glocer is a director of Merck & Co., [5] Morgan Stanley (Lead Director), [6] and Publicis Groupe; a member and former director of the Council on Foreign Relations; [7] a trustee of the Cleveland Clinic; a member of, the President's Council on International Activities at Yale University, the Yale Law School Executive Committee, the Yale School of Management Council, [8] the Columbia University Global Center (Paris) Board, [9] the Atlantic Council, the International Tennis Hall of Fame Board, the European Business Leaders Council, and the Madison Council of the Library of Congress. [10]

Glocer stepped down from Thomson Reuters at the end of 2011, [11] and is now managing partner of Angelic Ventures, LP, a family office investing in fintech, media, “big data” and healthcare, e.g. Windward. [12] [10] He is also an advisory board member of Afiniti, an American big data and artificial intelligence business. [13] [14] He held a number of senior leadership positions at Reuters, including president of Reuters LatAm and Reuters America, before being named CEO of Reuters Group PLC in July 2001. [15] Before joining Reuters, initially the legal department in 1993, he had worked as a merger and acquisitions lawyer for American law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York, Paris and Tokyo. [16]

Glocer holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Columbia University and a J.D. from Yale Law School. [17] He is married to Finnish model Maarit Glocer  [ fi ] ( née Leso) with two children and lives in New York City. [18] [19]

Thomson Scientific was one of the six strategic business units of The Thomson Corporation, beginning in 2007, after being separated from Thomson Scientific & Healthcare. Following the merger of Thomson with Reuters Group to form Thomson Reuters in 2008, it became the "Scientific" business unit of the new company. In 2009, the unit came together with the Healthcare division of Thomson Reuters to form the Healthcare & Science division. The healthcare business was sold in 2012 to become Truven Health Analytics. The Science unit of Thomson Reuters provided information services for the academic, business, and R&D communities. It had headquarters in Philadelphia, London, Singapore and Tokyo with about 2,400 staff in more than 20 countries. Thomas C. Naratil is an American business executive in the financial industry. After serving as president of both UBS Wealth Management Americas and UBS Americas since early 2016, Naratil was appointed CEO of UBS Americas Holding LLC and became co-president of Global Wealth Management of UBS Group AG and UBS AG in early 2018. Naratil started his career in finance in 1983 when he joined the brokerage firm Paine Webber Jackson & Curtis. The Swiss bank UBS acquired PaineWebber in 2000 and Naratil would hold various senior management positions at UBS Group, including chief financial officer (CFO) and chief operating officer (COO) from 2014 to 2015. Naratil succeeded Robert McCann as president of both UBS Wealth Management Americas and UBS Americas. In 2016, Naratil led a reorganization that involved cutting recruitment of US advisors and thinning management ranks, while also increasing compensation for UBS advisors. He is on the boards of organizations such as the American Swiss Foundation and College of Nursing at Villanova University, and has served on its Clearing House Supervisory Board.
