Tom Lopez is an American composer of electronic music. He serves as Director of the Computer Music Program at The Walden School. Lopez is best known for his extensive history with the TIMARA Labs at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
Lopez graduated from Oberlin College in 1989 with a B.A., received an MFA from California Institute of the Arts in 1993, and his DMA from the University of Texas, Austin in 2000.
Lopez has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Aaron Copland Fund, the Mid-America Arts Alliance, the Betty Freeman Foundation, the Knight Foundation, the Disney Foundation, Meet the Composer, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and a Fulbright Fellowship as composer-in-residence at the Centre International de Recherche Musical (CIRM). He has appeared at festivals and conferences around the world as a guest lecturer and composer. He serves on the board of directors of the Living Music Foundation and the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS).
Tom Lopez currently teaches at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and serves as chair of TIMARA (Technology in Music and Related Arts), a program established in 1967. TIMARA was the first-ever electronic music program at a music conservatory.

The Oberlin Conservatory of Music is a private music conservatory of Oberlin College, a private liberal arts college in Oberlin, Ohio. It was founded in 1865 and is the second oldest conservatory and oldest continually operating conservatory in the United States. It is one of the few American conservatories to be completely attached to a liberal arts college, allowing students the opportunity to pursue degrees in both music and a traditional liberal arts subject via a five-year double-degree program. Like the rest of Oberlin College, the student body of the conservatory is almost exclusively undergraduate.

Olly Woodrow Wilson, Jr. was an American composer of contemporary classical music, pianist, double bassist, and a musicologist. He was one of the most preeminent composers of African American descent in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. He is known for developing a list of Heterogenous Sound Ideals that is widely used to dissect different aspects of music, with an emphasis on African culture. According to Wilson himself, "The essence of Africanness consists of a way of doing something, not simply something that is done" (1991). This motto is the basis of Wilson's work in the realm of ethnomusicology. He is also known for establishing the TIMARA program at Oberlin Conservatory, the first-ever conservatory program in electronic music. Olly's richly varied musical background included not only traditional compositions and academic disciplines, but also his professional experience as a jazz and orchestral musician, work in electronic media, and studies of African music in West Africa itself.

Established in 1967, TIMARA is well known as the world's first conservatory program in electronic music. Department alumni have included Cory Arcangel, Christopher Rouse, Dary John Mizelle, Dan Forden and Amy X Neuburg.
John Michael Barone is an American organist, radio host, and producer, specializing in the pipe organ. His weekly Pipedreams program is distributed by American Public Media. He was the classical music director at Minnesota Public Radio for 25 years and had served as host for broadcasts of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and MPR's The New Releases.
Walter E. Aschaffenburg (1927–2006) was a German-born American composer, who for most of his career taught composition at Oberlin Conservatory of Music. One commentator noted that he "employed the 12-tone system in some of his works, his scores are often embued with a meticulous expressivity." He regarded his greatest work as Bartleby, an opera with a libretto by Jay Leyda, based on the Herman Melville story, Bartleby, and premiered by Oberlin Music Theatre in 1964.
