Tommie L. Pierson Jr. (born 1973) is an American pastor and politician who served as a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021. He represented the 66th district,which covers parts of St. Louis County and the city of St. Louis.
Pierson is the son of Tommie Pierson,a former state representative. He graduated from Parkway North High School in 1991 and from Washington University in St. Louis in 1995. Pierson received a Master of Arts from Covenant Theological Seminary in 2009.
Pierson is the pastor of the InStep Church in St. Charles,Missouri. [1] [2]
When his father vacated his legislative seat in order to run for Lieutenant Governor of Missouri,the younger Pierson announced he would run for the seat. Pierson prevailed in a three-way Democratic primary and defeated Republican John Saxton in the general election. [3] [4]
In 2019,he was elected assistant floor leader for the Democratic party in the Missouri House of Representatives. [5]
Pierson and his wife,Zorata,have three children:Tamia,Carlton,and Thaddeus. [6]

Melvin Eugene Carnahan was an American lawyer and politician who served as the 51st Governor of Missouri from 1993 until his death in 2000. A Democrat,he held various positions,including stints as a state Representative,where he rose to the position of majority leader,as State Treasurer and as Lieutenant Governor. He was elected Governor of Missouri in 1992 and re-elected in 1996. In 2000,he ran for the U.S. Senate against incumbent John Ashcroft in a hotly contested race. During the final weeks of the campaign,Carnahan was killed in a plane crash on his way to a campaign event. However,he was elected posthumously to the U.S. Senate,and his widow,Jean,served in his stead until a special election was held in 2002.
William Lacy Clay Jr. is an American politician who served as the U.S. representative from Missouri's 1st congressional district from 2001 to 2021. His congressional career ended after he lost in a Democratic primary to Cori Bush in 2020,after successfully defeating her in the 2018 primary.
Warren Eastman Hearnes was an American politician who served as the 46th governor of Missouri from 1965 to 1973. A member of the Democratic Party,he was the first officeholder eligible to serve two consecutive four-year terms. After leaving office Hearnes was dogged by a tax investigation,relating to finances in and out of his administration. While later cleared of any wrongdoing,Hearnes faced trouble in future bids for office. He was the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in 1976,replacing Jerry Litton who died after winning the nomination,but lost to John Danforth in November. He subsequently lost bids for Missouri Auditor in 1978,and a Circuit Court Judge position in 1980.
