Anthony Edward Kemp, MBE MStJ is the Chief Officer of the British Association for Immediate Care. He is most well known for his previous role as chairman of the British Association for Immediate Care, and for his work in the 2015 Shoreham Airshow crash. [1]

Awards

Kemp was appointed a serving brother of the Order of Saint John by Queen Elizabeth II, in November 2011, for his work to nursing. [2] He was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2014 for "services to pre-hospital emergency care", in his role as the vice chairman of the British Association for Immediate Care. [3] He received the Special Service Cross of the British Red Cross and a Royal Humane Society Testimonial on Vellum for his actions in rescuing a pilot in the aftermath of the 2015 Shoreham Airshow crash. The VAD nurses worked in field hospitals, i.e., close to the battlefield, and in longer-term places of recuperation back in Britain.

Dame Alicia Frances Jane Lloyd Still, DBE, RRC, SRN (1869–1944) was a British nurse, teacher, hospital matron and leader of her profession. She was one of the leaders in the campaign for state registration of nurses. Following the Nurses Registration Act 1919, she was a member of the General Nursing Council (1920-1937). As chairwoman of the General Nursing Council's first Education and Examinations Committee she helped establish the first national examination standards for the registration of nurses.

On 6 September 1952, a prototype de Havilland DH.110 jet fighter crashed during an aerial display at the Farnborough Airshow in Hampshire, England. The jet disintegrated mid-air during an aerobatic manoeuvre, causing the death of pilot John Derry and onboard flight test observer Anthony Richards. Debris from the aircraft fell onto a crowd of spectators, killing 29 people and injuring 60.

On 22 August 2015, a former military aircraft crashed onto a main road during an aerial display at the Shoreham Airshow at Shoreham Airport, England, killing 11 people and injuring 16 others. It was the deadliest air show accident in the United Kingdom since the 1952 Farnborough Airshow crash, which had killed 31 people.

The Joint War Organisation (JWO) was a combined operation of the British Red Cross Society and the Order of St John of Jerusalem during the World Wars. It was first created in 1914 and ceased operations when World War I ended in 1919; the organisation was re-formed upon the British entry into World War II in 1939 and was active until its permanent disbanding in 1947. The Joint War Committee (JWC), a non-government administrative body, controlled the JWO and the Joint War Finance Committee managed its finances and concentrated on raising donations and funding.

Deborah Sturdy is a British nurse and professor. She is the Government of the United Kingdom Chief Nurse for Social Care. She was awarded an Order of the British Empire in 2017 and made a Commander of the British Empire in 2023.
