Anthony Edward López-Carillo (born November 13, 1997) is an American soccer player who most recently played as a forward for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the USL Championship.
López was part of the USSDA side FC Golden State's academy team until 2016. [1] He also attended Sylmar High School. [2]
In 2016, López attended the University of California, Riverside to play college soccer. In two seasons with the Highlanders, López made 31 appearances, scoring two goals and adding four assists. [2] In 2017, he also appeared for USL PDL side Orange County SC U23. [3]
After two years in college, López left early to pursue a professional career. He joined Brazilian second division side Rio Claro in 2018, before moving to Germany, where he scored 14 goals in 15 appearances for seventh-tier side 1. FCA Darmstadt. [4] During this time there are reports of López having spells with SV Rot-Weiss Walldorf, Ventura County Fusion and an unnamed club in the United Premier Soccer League. [5]
Following a successful open tryout in December 2019, López signed with National Independent Soccer Association side California United Strikers. [6] He went on to score ten goals in 42 appearances. [7]
On February 28, 2023, López signed with USL Championship club Pittsburgh Riverhounds prior to their 2023 season. [8] Despite his injury, López's contract was not extended, and the player became a free agent. [9] [10]
Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC is an American professional soccer team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded and beginning play in 1999, the club plays in the Eastern Conference of the USL Championship, the second tier of the American soccer pyramid. Since 2013, the Riverhounds have played their home games at the 5,000-seat Highmark Stadium, a soccer-specific stadium located in Station Square. Their current head coach is Bob Lilley. Saint Lucian international David Flavius currently holds the club records for most appearances and goals which he set over his eight seasons with the Riverhounds between 1999 and 2006. In June 2017, the Riverhounds entered into a developmental partnership with the Ocean City Nor'easters of the Premier Development League, running through the 2018 season.
