Hutchison produced and presented a series on Australian music in the 1980s for Triple J in 1990 – featuring interviews with Australian musicians including Nick Cave, Chrissy Amphlett, David McComb, Paul Kelly and Jimmy Barnes – which became her first book Your Name's on the Door – 10 Years of Australian Music (1992/ABC books). [1]
Hutchison was talent producer and scriptwriter for series 2 and 3 of RocKwiz (SBS TV) and also the series producer of nomad (SBS TV), the program that discovered Silverchair [2] in a national demo competition in 1994.
She has also been a reporter for The 7.30 Report , hosted the ABC2 Music program DIG TV, and was a fill-in presenter for ABC News Breakfast . In 1986 Hutchison worked on the ABC magazine style television show Edge of the Wedge . [3] She has also been a fill in presenter on ABC Radio Melbourne and ABC Radio Sydney. Her radio career began in Melbourne on community radio station 102.7fm 3RRR.
She wrote a weekly opinion column for the Saturday Age [4] from 2005 to 2009 and conceived and edited two fund-raising cookbooks for the Mirabel Foundation: Rock Chefs for Mirabel (1992), featuring Australian musicians Tim Rogers, Tex Perkins, Deborah Conway, Archie Roach & Ruby Hunter and Ed Kuepper and their favorite recipes, [5] and Laughing Stock – Comedy Chefs for Mirabel (2007), featuring Australian comedians Eddie Perfect, Tim Minchin, Dave Hughes, Tripod, Corinne Grant, Libby Gorr and Julia Zemiro. Hutchison has written on social justice issues, [7] [8] environment [9] and indigenous issues, [10] she was commissioned by The Black Arm Band to write an essay on the history of Aboriginal music for the Hidden Republic [11] performance as part of the 2008 Melbourne International Arts Festival.
In 1995 she wrote and starred in her debut one-woman show I Forgive Catriona Rowntree, [12] at the Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Triple J is a government-funded, national Australian radio station founded in 1975 as a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). It aims to appeal to young listeners of alternative music, and plays more Australian content than commercial networks.
Daniel Paul Johns is an Australian musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the frontman, guitarist, and main songwriter of the rock band Silverchair. Johns is also one half of The Dissociatives with Paul Mac and one half of Dreams with Luke Steele. On March 13, 2015 Johns released his first solo EP Aerial Love and on March 22, 2015, he released his first solo LP Talk in 2015. Johns' second solo album FutureNever was released on 22 April 2022.
Silverchair are an Australian rock band, which formed in 1992 as Innocent Criminals in Newcastle, New South Wales, with Daniel Johns on vocals and guitars, Ben Gillies on drums, and Chris Joannou on bass guitar. The group got their big break in mid-1994 when they won a national demo competition conducted by SBS TV show Nomad and ABC radio station Triple J. The band was signed by Murmur and were successful in Australia and internationally. Silverchair has sold over 10 million albums worldwide.

"Tomorrow" is a song by Australian rock band Silverchair, which was released on 16 September 1994 on their debut extended play, also titled Tomorrow. The song was re-recorded and included on Frogstomp, the band's debut studio album, released six months later on 27 March 1995. Written by singer and lead guitarist Daniel Johns and drummer Ben Gillies, it was produced and engineered by Phil McKellar at the national radio station Triple J's studios for SBS-TV's show Nomad, which aired on 16 June 1994. After the broadcast, Silverchair were signed to the Murmur record label – a Sony Music subsidiary – which subsequently issued the Tomorrow EP.

Rebecca Chirnside Barnard is an Australian singer, songwriter, producer, and musician. She was the lead singer of the band Rebecca's Empire from 1993 to 2000 and has forged a solo career since her debut album, Fortified, was released in 2006. Her second solo album, Everlasting, was released in 2010. After a lengthy break of just under seven years, Barnard released her third solo album, Music for Listening and Relaxation, in 2017. She released her first solo jazz album, The Night We Called It A Day, in 2023.

Edge of the Wedge was an Australian magazine style television show broadcast in 1986 by the ABC. It was aimed at a teenage audience and aired Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6pm with Tuesdays having a prime focus on music. Reporters and presenters included Mandy Salomon, David Wales, Tracee Hutchison, Greg Parke, Unjoo Moon, Mark Dodshon, Zoe Carides, Tracey Callander and Henry Pepper. It focused on Australian bands and youth culture and politics. They recorded live music footage from Australian pubs, some of which was later aired on The Noise. The show ended in October. The axing was then suspended pending survey of 15-25 year olds but results came back negative and the axing stood.
