Trans Thane Creek, also popularly called TTC, is a creek running between Thane and Navi Mumbai. It is popularly known as Thane- Belapur Road. It is a huge industrial area near Mumbai. The nearest hill stations are Matheran and Karjat.

Thane Creek Neighbourhood in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Thane Creek is an inlet in the shoreline of the Arabian Sea that isolates the city of Mumbai from the Indian mainland. It comprises the area between Mumbra Retibunder and the Mankhurd-Vashi Bridge. The creek is divided into two parts. The first part lies between Ghodbunder and Thane, a section from where the Ulhas river flows from the north of Mumbai Island to meet the Arabian Sea on the west. The Harbour line is a branch line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway operated by Central Railways. It was named so because it catered to the eastern neighbourhoods along the city's natural harbour. Its termini are Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Andheri and Panvel on the CST-Andheri, CST-Panvel and Panvel-Andheri routes. The first section of the line, between Kurla and Reay Road, opened on 12 December 1910. In 1925, the line was connected to the then Victoria Terminus via an elevated rail corridor between Dockyard Road and Sandhurst Road. Suburban services to Mankhurd began in 1951. The line was later extended from Mankhurd to serve most of Navi Mumbai via the Mankhurd–Belapur–Panvel rail corridor in the 1990s. The stations in Navi Mumbai are well maintained and beautifully designed by CIDCO They have good facilities and are kept clean, better than other Mumbai stations. There are IT offices above the stations. The Railbridge connecting Vashi and Mankhurd railway stations running over Thane creek, parallel to road bridge has brought Navi Mumbai closer to Mumbai, boosting development of the region

Vashi Bridge

The Vashi Bridge, also known as Thane Creek Bridge, is a bridge, built across the Thane Creek that connects the city of Mumbai to the Indian mainland at Navi Mumbai. The bridge links the suburb of Mankhurd in Mumbai with Vashi in Navi Mumbai, the satellite city of Mumbai. It is one of four entry points into Mumbai, and handles traffic directed towards the region to the south and east of Mumbai.

Sion Hillock Fort

The Sion Hillock Fort is a fort in Mumbai (Bombay), India. It was built under the regime of the English East India Company, between 1669 and 1677, atop a conical hillock when Gerard Aungier was the Governor of Bombay. It was notified in 1925 as a Grade I Heritage structure. When it was built, the fort marked the boundary between British-held Parel island and the Portuguese held Salsette Island that lay to the north across the creek.

It also has operation outside city limits into neighboring Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan Dombivali, Mira-Bhayandar and Vasai Virar.

Thane is a major railway station on the Central line of the Indian Railways System It is a part of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network. It is one of the busiest railway stations in India. Thane was ranked as the busiest railway station on the Mumbai suburban network, followed by Andheri and Kalyan. As of 2013, Thane railway station handles 600,000 people daily. More than 1,000 trains visit the station each day, including 130-140 long distance trains.

The Vikhroli-Kopar Khairne Link Road (VKLR), also known as the JVLR-Kopar Khairane-Ghansoli Bridge, is a proposed 7.5 km to 10 km, freeway grade road bridge connecting the Indian city of Mumbai with Navi Mumbai, its satellite city. The new link road would start at Eastern Express Highway (EEH) where Jogeshwari- Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) ends in Vikhroli, then cross Thane Creek and Harbour railway line and will terminate at Kopar Khairane in Navi Mumbai before ending on Thane- Belapur road. The link would be a six-lane road of about 10 km in length including a 2-kilometre-long (1.2 mi) bridge over the Thane creek. At present motorists have to take either the Vashi Bridge or Mulund-Airoli Link Road to go to Navi Mumbai and Pune. The new road will help motorists save time and fuel. The project is estimated to cost around ₹ 550 to 1200 crores. Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) appointed N P Bridging, as a designing consultants for the infra-project, which was supposed to submit the final report on the link road by mid-September 2016.
