The Travancore Cochin Republican Praja Party was a political party in Travancore-Cochin, India. The party was floated in 1951 by a group of wealthy plantation owners, led by A.V. George. [1] [2] A.V. George was the general secretary of the party and A.C.M. Anthraper was its president. [2] The party had a right-wing profile. [3]

The party fielded seven candidates in the 1951 Travancore-Cochin Legislative Assembly election. [4] In spite of having plenty of money for their campaign, none of its candidates were elected. [1] Together they obtained 53,034 votes (1.56% of the votes in the state). [4] A.V. George himself finished in second place in the Kottayam constituency, with 8,649 votes (29.07%). [4]

The party was dissolved in 1952. [1]

T. S. Ramaswami Pillai was an Indian politician, freedom fighter and former Member of the Legislative Assembly. He was elected to the Travancore-Cochin assembly from Thovalai Agastheeswaram constituency in 1952 election as an Indian National Congress candidate. Thovalai Agastheeswaram was a two-member constituency and the other winner was A. Samraj from the same party.

K. Sattanatha Karayalar was an Indian politician and former Member of the Legislative Assembly. He was elected to Travancore-Cochin Legislative Assembly in 1952 and 1954 elections from Shenkottai constituency as an Independent candidate.

1954 Travancore-Cochin Legislative Assembly election

Elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Indian state of Travancore-Cochin were held on 15 February 1954. 265 candidates competed for the 106 constituencies in the Assembly. There were 11 two-member constituencies and 95 single-member constituencies. Out of these, one single member and one two-member constituency was reserved for SC. The main contest in the election was between the Indian National Congress (INC) and the United Front of Leftists (UFL). Travancore Tamil Nadu Congress was also significant in some Tamil - significant constituencies.

1952 Travancore-Cochin Legislative Assembly election

Elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Indian state of Travancore-Cochin were held on 27 March 1952.

The Cochin Party was a political party in Cochin, India. The party was founded in 1949 by C.V. Iyyu, Kunhirama Menon and others. Although the party had no links as such with the Cochin Praja Mandal, some of its leaders had been members of that group. The party opposed integration of Cochin into a joint state with Travancore, and raised the slogan 'Cochin for Cochinites'. It sought to maintain a separate Cochin state. The party had a right-wing profile.

The Tamilnad People's Front was a political party in Travancore-Cochin, India. The party advocated that five taluks in the eastern and southern parts of the Travancore should have been transferred to the neighbouring Madras state. The party fielded two candidates in the 1951 Travancore-Cochin Legislative Assembly election, whom together obtained 4,025 votes. The election symbol of the party was a bow and arrow.

P. Ravindran

Padmanabhan Ravindran or P. Ravindran was an Indian politician who was the Minister for Industries, Labour and Forests in Kerala from 1 November 1969 to 3 August 1970. He was the secretary of the CPI Legislature Party from 1967 to 69. Ravindran was imprisoned many times for political reasons. He also chaired as the Chairman and Managing Director of Janayugom Newspaper, Prabhatham Printers and Publishing Company. He has played a major role in building the party cadre in the state of Kerala and received the Sadanandan Award for the Best Co-operator.
