Travis Ray Kuhn (born May 20,1998) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Detroit Tigers organization.
Kuhn attended Norco High School in Norco,California. [1] During his senior year,Kuhn made fastballs touching 84-88 while recording 75 strikeouts,an ERA of 2.94,and a 6-3 record for 64.1 innings. [2] After his senior year,Kuhn committed to the University of San Diego to play College Baseball. Where he finished 3-3 and recorded an ERA of 3.54 with 64 strikeouts in 48.1 innings. [3]
Kuhn was selected in the nineteenth round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft by the Seattle Mariners. [4] He signed with the Mariners for US$85,000. [5] He made his professional debut in the same year with the Everett Aqua Sox,pitching 18 games with an ERA of 6.95,25 strikeouts and 4 saves in 22 innings,before being reassigned to the West Virginia Power,where he only played 2 games. [6] Kuhn did not make an appearance on the mound in 2020 due to the minor league season being cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. [7] In 2021,Kuhn was assigned to the Everett Aqua Sox again;this time he played just 3 games before being reassigned to the Modesto Nuts,where he played in 21 games and recorded an ERA of 3.86 with 36 strikeouts and 5 saves. He was then reassigned to the Tacoma Rainiers,where he only played 1 game. [8] [9] Following the 2022 season,Kuhn was ranked 29th in the Mariners's top 30 prospect list. [10] When assigned to the Arkansas Travelers,he recorded 71 strikeouts with an ERA of 4.10 in 59.1 innings for 50 games. [11] On March 30,2025,Kuhn was released by the Mariners.
On March 31,2025,Kuhn signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. He made 26 appearances out of the bullpen for the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils,logging a 6-4 record and 6.00 ERA with 28 strikeouts over 33 innings of work. Kuhn was released by the Phillies organization on July 19. [12]
On July 23,2025,Kuhn signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers and was assigned to the rookie-level Florida Complex League Tigers. [13]
