Duathlon is an athletic event that consists of a running leg, followed by a cycling leg and then another running leg in a format similar to triathlons. The World Triathlon governs the sport internationally.
World Triathlon, previously known as the International Triathlon Union (ITU), is the international governing body for the multi-sport disciplines of triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon and other nonstandard variations. It is recognised as the international federation for the sport of triathlon and its derivatives by the International Olympic Committee, and it organises Olympic triathlon events on behalf of the IOC.
The Fourth Asian Beach Games were held in Phuket Island, Phuket province, Thailand. The games were originally scheduled for Boracay Island, Aklan, Philippines, but was affected by the OCA's hosting changes.

The championships involve a continuous run-cycle-run, with the format since 1994 being a first run of 10 km, a cycle of 40 km and a second run of 5 km.

Selected by British Triathlon to compete for the Great Britain Elite team at the ETU European Elite middle-distance duathlon Championships Copenhagen, St Wendel and Viborg, the ASTC Asian Elite middle-distance duathlon Championships Putrajaya, and the ITU World Elite long-distance duathlon championships Powerman Zofingen.
Triathlon is among the sports which is being contested at the 2019 South Asian Games. Triathlon is being hosted in the city of Pokhara between December 2 and 4, 2019. The discipline of duathlon was added to the sports program for this edition of the games.
The 2021 World Triathlon Duathlon Championships was a duathlon competition held in Avilés, Spain from 6 to 7 November 2021 and organized by World Triathlon. The Elite and U23 races consisted of a 10.65 km (6.62 mi) run, 39.6 km (24.6 mi) bike and 5.2 km (3.2 mi) run. The championship also included other races per age group, junior, sprint per age group and para-duathlon.
The 2022 World Triathlon Winter Championships were held in Sant Julià de Lòria, Andorra from February 3 to February 6, 2022.
