The women's triathlon was part of the Triathlon at the 2018 Commonwealth Games program. The competition was held on 5 April 2018 in the Southport Broadwater Parklands.

A triathlon is a multisport race with three continuous and sequential endurance races. The word is of Greek origin, from τρεῖς or treis (three) and ἆθλος or athlos (competition).

Triathlon at the 2018 Commonwealth Games

Triathlon at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held in the Southport Broadwater Parklands, Gold Coast from April 5th to 7th. A total of five events took place, two each for men and women and a mixed relay event. For the first time ever, para-triathlon events were contested at the Commonwealth Games.

Southport Broadwater Parklands

The Southport Broadwater Parklands is a large community park located in Southport. It is designed for large community gatherings and families. The park has many different areas for children and barbecue areas for families. The park went through a major redevelopment and was re-opened by the Premier of Queensland, Anna Bligh, on 23 August 2009. Southport Broadwater Parklands has become a popular family attraction.

Competition format

The race was held over the "sprint distance" and consisted of 750 metres (0.47 mi) swimming, 20 kilometres (12 mi) road bicycling, and 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) road running. [1]

Emma Moffatt triathlete

U.S. triathlon coach Keith Dickson said the course favored strong swimmers and fast runners. Athletes were faced with environmental challenges such as strong sea currents and tropical heat and humidity. As the first medal event of the Singapore Games, the winner of this triathlon received the first gold medal in the Youth Olympic Games.

The women's triathlon was part of the Triathlon at the 2014 Commonwealth Games program. The competition was held on 24 July 2014 at Strathclyde Country Park in Glasgow.

Rebecca Spence is a New Zealand triathlete who represented her country at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, finishing in tenth place in the women's triathlon.

The women's triathlon was part of the Triathlon at the 2018 Asian Games program, was held in JSC Lake Jakabaring on 31 August 2018. The race was held over the "international distance" and consisted of 1,500 metres (0.93 mi) swimming, 40 kilometres (25 mi) road bicycle racing, and 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) road running.
