The Troy Trojans football program represents Troy University at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level, where it has competed since 2001. The football program joined the Sun Belt Conference in 2004. The current head football coach is Gerad Parker. Troy has won 23 conference championships, with eight in the Sun Belt Conference. The Trojans play home games at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Alabama.

The board of trustees voted to start a football program that began play in the fall of 2009.
Donald D. Maestri Jr. is an American college basketball coach who was the head men's basketball coach at Troy University from 1982 to 2013. Prior to accepting this position, Maestri was an assistant coach at Mississippi State University from 1979 to 1980 and at the University of Alabama from 1980 to 1982. Maestri coached the Trojans to a record of 500–404, one NCAA basketball tournament, five regular season conference titles, and one conference tournament title over the course of 26 seasons at Troy. He has been named coach of the year in the East Coast Conference (1994), the Summit League, Atlantic Sun Conference and the Sun Belt Conference (2009)
The Troy Trojans baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball team of Troy University, located in Troy, Alabama, United States. It competes in the NCAA Division I Sun Belt Conference. The program began play in 1911. In 1986 and 1987, Troy won Division II national championships under head coach Chase Riddle. As a Division II program, the team won 10 conference titles and appeared in 14 NCAA regionals and 7 College World Series.
Juan Garat is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 249, attained on 3 May 1993, and a career-high doubles ranking of World No. 85 in 1994.

The Jimmy Lunsford Tennis Complex is a tennis facility located on the campus of Troy University in Troy, Alabama. The complex opened in the spring of 2001 as the Trojan Oaks Tennis Complex. It was renamed the Jimmy C. Lunsford Tennis Complex a few years later in honor of the City of Troy's mayor by the same name who played a key role in getting the facility built. It is a first-class, full-service facility, offering 12 lighted hard courts with a clubhouse and pro shop.

The Trojans, led by sixth year head coach Chanda Rigby, play their home games at Trojan Arena and were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 18–13, 12–6 in Sun Belt play to finish in a tie for third place. They advanced to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament where they lost to Little Rock.

Rolando Vargas is the head tennis coach for the Troy Trojans men's tennis team. He was previously the head coach of the Radford Highlanders men's tennis team in 2018, as well as the head coach for the AUM Warhawks men's and women's tennis teams from 2010 to 2017. He holds the record for most wins in women’s tennis history at Auburn University at Montgomery, including four National Championships. Additionally, both of his men’s and women’s teams were undefeated for six consecutive years in every conference tournament in which they competed. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame on March 23, 2024.

The Trojans, led by sixth year head coach Chanda Rigby, play their home games at Trojan Arena and were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 22–9, 13–5 in Sun Belt play to finish in third place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament to South Alabama. They received an at-large bid to the WNIT where they lost to UAB in the first round.
The 2019–20 Troy Trojans women's basketball team represents Troy University during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Trojans, led by seventh year head coach Chanda Rigby, play their home games at Trojan Arena and were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 25–4, 16–2 in Sun Belt play to finish regular season champions. They received a first and second round bye in the Sun Belt tournament after being seeded 1st. Before their first game, the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021 Georgia Southern Eagles football team represented Georgia Southern University during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Eagles played their home games at Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, Georgia, and competed in the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference. They were led by third-year head coach Chad Lunsford until he was dismissed mid-season following his third consecutive loss within the first four games of the season. Cornerbacks coach Kevin Whitley was tapped to serve as interim coach until a new head coach was hired by the university. Whitley was in his third year as cornerbacks coach and previously played for Georgia Southern as a four year starter from 1988 to 1991, helping to win two national titles for the Eagles. On November 2, 2021, Clay Helton, former head coach of the USC Trojans, was hired to become the next head coach for Georgia Southern, starting in the 2022 season.
